Sup guys ... My keystone does not let me sign transactions. Says invalid QR code when I try signing. I did the new update yesterday. And is actually not working. It was fine before . Anyone having same issue ?

Hello, what would you pick between the Keystone 3 Pro vs OneKey Touch? I don't think the OneKey supports multiple wallets like Keystone or the Ellipal Titan 2.0 but I could be wrong. Does the Keystone 3 Pro's screen have a lot of lag? It looks pretty bad in this video. I know the OneKey Pro is about to drop but what is putting me off is that it only has a tiny 530mAh battery, so in my book that is a major step backwards compared to the Touch model. I would like to know your thoughts between these models.

The K3P is quite different from the Onekey Touch. Onekey is more user/beginner friendly whereas I recommend the K3P for more advanced users. In comparison, Onekey is smoother overall than the Keystone wallet. Without having used the OneKey Pro yet, it looks promising on paper and I have already pre ordered mine. Ultimately, you can’t go wrong with either in terms of security.

One thing I can't quite figure out, and perhaps you can help... It looks like the main use case for Keystone is binding to hot wallets since it no longer has a native app. When you use Keystone and bind it to, say Metamask, I'm guessing your (new) Keystone ETH address is displayed in your Metamask along with your native Metamask ETH address. (So you would have 2 ETH addresses in your Metamask?) Does your native Metamask ETH address get the same protections as the Keystone address (In regards to transactions getting QR code signing?) Or does the user have to transfer their existing ETH (or whatever coins/tokens are natively held in Metamask) to the Keystone ETH address(es) for protection? Thanks for your help, Mike.

Good question Mike! No, your native metamask address is not covered by Keystone. They have completely separate private keys. One is hot (Metamask) & one is cold (Keystone). So to take advantage of the increased security you’d want to transfer your funds from your native metamask account to your new Keystone 3 Pro address. - Alex

I'm a bit confused. Can you view your crypto exclusively on Keystone or can you only view it via the supporting hot wallet? I've performed a trial sending crypto to Keystone however it's not visible... Am I missing something?

You have to manage it using software wallets. So you connect the keystone to the hot wallets.

Hello, So I just started to set up my Keystone 3 Pro wallet and just wanted to ask you some questions. I currently have most of my crypto on Coinbase, which I know its a bad idea. Im going to transfer my BTC, SOL, and ETH to my Keystone. My question is I can sent all those assets to my wallet and then if I want to access one of the crypto I would have to download say Solflare Wallet to access my SOL correct? But that doesn't mean my SOL is in the Solflare wallet, the solflare is just an extension to be able to see how much SOL I have and if I want to send/sell the crypto. Correct? Also would it be ideal to completely shut off the KeyStone wallet when not in use? Thank you in advance, sorry for such a big comment.

Everything you said is correct 👍 As for properly storing your device, it’s recommended to charge it to about 50%, then shut it off (this is best for battery longevity). If you don’t use it often, I’d recommend charging it every month or as needed to maintain good battery health. In terms of security, it doesn’t matter how you store it as long as it’s in a secure place. - Alex

I have my bitcoin through bitcoinIRA and they hold my bitcoin in a cold storage wallet using bitwise. This isn’t ideal but was the best route for an Ira transfer. I’m trying to plan for the future on when I withdraw my bitcoin and hold keys myself. I bought the keystone pro just now and I plan on only holding bitcoin in this wallet. Would this wallet be a good choice for that? Also which hot wallet would be best for transactions with bitcoin in your opinion? Relatively new to crypto but I’m getting there.

That’s awesome. You’re already ahead of most people it sounds like. The 3 Pro is definitely a solid option for holding BTC. And a good software wallet to use with the K3P for Bitcoin specifically is OKX wallet or Sparrow.

I love your videos. Newbie to crypto coins here. I was told the Keystone 3 Pro can be used with WalletConnect instead of a hot wallet. What are the pros and cons? I also ordered the Tandem wallet and am waiting for it to ship.

Thank you! Keystone can be used with wallet connect to connect to dapps. But you still must use hot wallets to manage your crypto. But your private key/seed phrase is kept on the keystone device so it remains safe. Connecting it to a hot wallet does not affect security. Pros: It has a ton of security features Cons: it’s not as user friendly as a wallet like Tangem and I generally don’t recommend it to beginners unless they are a bit tech savvy

Let's say you add a passphrase a few later(certain seed phrase) , will the addresses of the coins change? Meaning it's now a completely different wallet?

The seed phrase remains the same. When you enter the passphrase, that’s a separate wallet than the seed phrase alone

How many hotwallet a person should have? Its having 1 to store only good enough? For example 1hotwallet for trade then 1 cold wallet for store all crypto and never connect to dapp..

I think that’s acceptable. It’s always nice to have a backup in case one breaks. But what you described is sufficient

Hi Cyber Scrilla Is there an easy way to migrate my assets from Ledger X to Keystone? Do I only have to put in the seed phrase from Ledger to Keystone so it can import all the assets to the new device? Thank you very much.

You can do that yes. It’s always safer to start fresh with a new seed phrase, then transfer funds to your new addresses. But if you believe the seed phrase you created on ledger is still safe, then you can just import it. You’ll still need to download all the appropriate software wallets to use with the keystone wallet to manage your funds

I ordered my Keystone around mid November and opened the package last weekend in order to migrate my assets from Ledger to Keystone. I must say, I was shocked how the Keystone deviced looked like from a condition point of view. It has signs of heavy usage, scratches on the screen and there was no mask on the screen, just the sticker, which helps to remove the mask from the screen guard. Do you think, that the device could be compromised? If so, is it enough to the verification process to find it out? Thank you very much and all the best, Serkan

I don't understand. It's connected to hot wallets? Does this mean the hot wallets are secured through this keystone cold wallet? What if sayed hot wallets are hacked, how does this protect your funds held in a hot wallet?

No. The device still stores your private key/seed phrase (which is the point of a cold wallet). The hot wallets are simply used to manage the funds, they don’t hold they key to your wallet

Yes, Keystone is my primary wallet for storing a majority of my crypto. Personally I only hold a couple of different tokens, all of which are on Ethereum (with the exception of Bitcoin). So I mainly use metamask. But to be honest, I send the coins to my Keystone and they stay there. You don’t need to use a hot wallet to receive coins on Keystone, just to send/convert them. So I don’t use a hot wallet often until I’m ready to convert my crypto to fiat - Alex

Use a comparable hot wallet in conjunction with the Keystone 3 Pro. For example, Solana you use Solflare. For Avalanche & Binance Smart Chain you can use Metamask or various other hot wallets etc - Alex

Yes it does. But look at the asset list again, you have to use software wallets to manage certain assets. OKX, MetaMask, Safe (iOS/Web), Rabby, and Blockwallet are all wallets you can use in conjunction with Keystone to manage XDC.

This sound all great. The issue I had with them was because I paid a lower amount (ledger discount), they prioritized shipping to people that paid full price instead (discord mod practically alluded to it), so I told them to cancel my order (I’ve waited an entire month already). They were quite prompt in doing so which I would have imagined given they don’t have shortage of orders. Very disappointed by this practice. I get it’s a for profit company but this practice leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I did update my Kystone 3 pro wallet. I can't switch off device and don't do anything with it. It works only 12 hours after update 😢

You can’t turn it off? Try doing a hard reset by holding the power button down for 10 seconds

That is not true. It’s optional. If you want to download the BTC only firmware you can. Or you can use the multi coin firmware. Similar to trezor

@@kevinschmelzer4469 that’s just the promotion. And even if it does come with BTC only firmware you still have to update the device. Which at that point you’d just update it using the multi coin firmware. When you do the update, you choose which firmware to download and use

If it were to go bad you can still access your wallet using any other cold wallet and your seed phrase. That’s one common misconception. If a hardware wallet fails, your crypto remains safe. As long as you have your seed phrase. LCD screens generally last 10+ years though if you take care of them. - Alex

Two very different wallet. Tangem is more user friendly and better suited for beginners. Keystone offers more security features but isn’t nearly as user friendly as Tangem. So, it depends on what you’re looking for.

You must use hot wallets that supports those tokens and then connect the Keystone 3 Pro to said hot wallets to manage them.

No. There’s no native app for this wallet. The hot wallets are the app, which is one reason why it’s so secure-you’re not relying on one app to manage coins. Connecting it to a hot wallet does not compromise security if that’s what you’re worried about. You simply connect it to a hot wallet which then gives you a receiving address. But your private key is still only stored on the Keystone device and all transactions must be approved using the Keystone wallet.

I ordered my keystone wallet, but I have received an Amazon product. The wallet was shipped through Amazon and I don't understand why because I ordered it directly from keystone. Can anybody collaborator or elaborate on why this happened? I do not trust third party wallets.

Keystone stocks their Amazon warehouse to make shipping quicker depending on where you live. You can verify the device/firmware during setup if you’re worried. But, this is normal.

@@stevehk1800 I understand. The latest version is 1.0.4. But you’re right, the hamburger icon still only display ETH, BTC, and Cosmos network. To access other networks you’ll need to connect it to a hot wallet of your choice and manage coins there. The firmware is still undergoing development, so I’d expect more support to gradually roll out over the next month or two. - Alex

@@cyberscrilla Wanted to ask in recent tweets they announced droping bluetooth support in upcoming firmwares but since this devic already has BT hardware why not keep the firmware seperate and let users decide since BT signing was one of key reason i wanted to switch to Keystone over ledger

Why do these wallet makers insist on putting a battery in their devices instead of just requiring you to connect it to a phone charger? The batteries used in devices are lithium. Yes you can plug it into a USB and use it but only if the battery has not randomly decided to swell and damage the internals.

@@cyberscrilla I tried to charge a camera battery after 10 years. It swelled and started smelling so I cut the power out. When I went to check it I noticed I couldn't get it out of the charger and the plastic had melted. That's what lithium does after a few years regardless of whether its used or not. That's why I am against things like wallets using batteries. When you plug it into your PC it will send power to the battery first and if the lithium isn't "up to snuff" theres a chance it could be dangerous. I don't think its worth it for a wallet.

So according to their website and packaging the Keystone 3 Pro has a USB. And Bluetooth connection, right. How does that go along with something that is supposed to be secure because it is airgapped? And is the Bluetooth connection activated already or will this be done with a software update? Would this allow us to use the KS 3 Pro essentially like a Ledger Nano X?

Incorrect. The private key/seed phrase storage and transaction signing all take place on the device. You can’t do anything without the Keystone wallet. This is the most secure wallet on the market. Hot wallets are only used to manage/initiate transactions.
