KF-21 BORAMAE SUCCESSFULLY REACHES SUPERSONIC SPEED
The KF-21 Boramae prototype successfully flew at supersonic speed for the first time on Tuesday 17 January 2023. Securing supersonic capability is a key part of the project because it means key functions work smoothly regardless of flight speed.
South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Agency or DAPA said the prototype 4.5 generation fighter jet exceeded a speed of Mach 1 at an altitude of 40,000 feet at 15:15 local time. The plane took off from the base in Sacheon at 14:58. The plane then landed at 15:54 after flying over the country's southern waters.
