How to work an KFB (knit front & back) increase for continental knitters. This video is for beginner knitters who want to learn a basic, and simple increase. A Kfb increase is probably one of the first increases you will learn as a beginner knitter because of how beginner friendly it is. I try and work it slowly and show it from different angles so you can really learn how to do it.

Thank you so much. Not just for this tutorial, but in general for the way you explain knitting stitches and techniques. You explain it in a way, that is easy to understand, clear and also in the quickest way that I have seen so far.

Thanks for this tutorial! Does this kind of increase stay straight? (as opposed to the ones that leans left or right)
@TheBlueMouseKnits
@TheBlueMouseKnits 6 ай бұрын
Hi, this increase leans to the left. I can’t think of an increase that doesn’t lean one way or the other except maybe a YO. Lifted increases, even though they lean are the most invisible if that’s what you’re looking for. LLI and RLI

Are you wrapping your yarn around an extra time while working it? Do you get a hole when you do it?

Emily, my mother was teaching me aran knitting before she died in 2019. I had previously managed a back and two sleeves with mum. I'm trying to get back to it. I'm attempting a small aran cardigan for a young baby. I have knit the 1*1 rib. it now calls for an increase from 69 stitches to 90. I can't understand what Im doing now. i know the pattern starts after i have increased appropriately.

Hey Margaret, I'll try my best to help you figure it out. Feel free to email me a photo of the pattern paragraph you're having trouble with if that's easier for you (bluemouseshop@gmail.com). Is this for a body panel or a sleeve? And does it tell you to increase over X amount of rows, or increase all in 1 row?

At 0:24 you show the stitch and explain the front loop and the back loop; on my piece, the front loop is traveling behind the back loop (opposite to yours). I'm not sure what to do. Did I do something wrong beforehand? I apologize if this is a very stupid question. I am very stupid. :(

Hey, I just noticed the same thing about my knitting as I watched this video ;( but the issue for me was that i was wrapping my purl stitches clockwise instead of counterclockwise! I hope this helps I case you need it still!

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLKDlKShyq2Rpo0.html You can see it really well in the video I linked in the purl section that starts at 21:55 seconds! I'm defo having to change the way I knit now too haha

@@lfreischem Thank you so much!! I also realized I misspelled the word "stitch" in my original comment... UGH. I'm sure I was wrapping the wrong way. I'm going to try to switch to Continental, too. It seems SO much faster and the results always look nicer. I really appreciate you for taking the time to help! That was super kind of you!

Thanks, it’s clear and simple and easy to follow. I’m a new knitter and I chose to learn Continental. The other videos I found were all English style, and it’s helpful to see this done Continental style.
