KFC Style Popcorn Chicken

5 жыл бұрынSimple and Easy recipe for crispy and juicy KFC style popcorn chicken.
1 chicken breast (approximately 300 grams), cubed
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp chilli sauce /hot sauce
1/4 cup milk
Mix, cover & refrigerate for 1 hour
Coating:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup corn flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp crushed red chilli
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 egg (add to the marinated chicken before coating)
1/2 cup cold water to add to remaining marinade for second coating

I made this but used cauliflower instead of chicken breast and tossed them in some seasoning when they came out of the frier and it was super yummy! Been craving popcorn chicken since becoming vegetarian and this recipe makes the perfect crunchy coating - thank you for sharing! 😋

I'd replace the water at the last part with soda. It will make the coating more flakey. If you want it flakey though.

I'd suggest adding a little bit of baking powder to the flour coating . It really helps with the texture

Easy recipe, no extra steps, flavour always come through, kids love it, coating doesnt absorb so much oil, crispy. Thank you! I am so bad at fry foods with coatings. I refer to this vid each time so I don't mess it up.

i just made these and theyre SOOOOO good. i didnt have enough dry mixture tho so i recommend doubling it next time. other than that it was so GOOD. i also omitted the chili sauce bc im not really a fan. thanks so much! can i freeze the batter before i fry it?
