He had no all star sidekick for that run and win. Just a bunch of good role players but he carried them to a championship against the defending champs Kobe - Gasol Lakers, Budding Superstar KD, Westbrook and Harden OKC and beat the Wade, LeBron and Bosh Miami Heat Superteam. That was probably the single most impressive championship run seen in the NBA. Dirk was unstoppable that year.
