What Khabib is referring to is this......of course hockey is Canada's national sport, the best hockey players of all time are arguably Canadians (Wayne Gretzky, Gordi Howe, Bobby Orr, Sidney Crosby, etc.)...in 2010 we hosted the Olympic games on home soil in Vancouver Canada, and our golden boy of hockey Sydney Crosby, scored the game winning overtime goal (referred to as the Golden Goal) against the Americans to win the Gold Medal. An absolutely HUGE moment for our country. Sidney also led his team to win the Stanley Cup the year before....HOWEVER, GSP was such an amazing athlete and what he was doing on the world stage in MMA, actually earned him Canadian Athlete of the Year above Sidney Crosby......this accomplishment cannot be overstated, Khabib is very respectful and he completely understands this which I find quite fascinating about him. I think that DC was just making a lighthearted jab about Canada, I doubt ther was any disrespect intended towards Khabib
@FnD42122 жыл бұрын
My thought that DC amuses how Khabib know this knowledge. He surprises everyone with his football knowledge, and then Canada came up and even I taken aback how Canada fits with greatness of GSP until Khabib explained.

Man this is a great homage to the welterweight goat by the lightweight goat. Fighters now and in the future may technically surpass him as future generations always will, what he was able to achieve at a time when MMA was considered a fringe sport is something nobody has done since. Yes Connor/Ronda were huge, but they stepped into a globally recognised sport. What GSP did for mma inside and outside the ring is nothing short of legendary.

He wasn't just the first to have a well-rounded skill set. He made each component of that skill set magnify the other components. He used his striking to make his takedowns more effective and used his takedowns to make his striking more effective. That's why he could beat up superior strikers and take down superior wrestlers.

Although I think GSP is the GOAT, if they fought right now in 2021 I think you’d have to say Khabib is the favorite.

Of course, GSP is old, he's 40 years old, the gap in their age and their last fight is big. This fight between Khabib & GSP is just not meant to be, and I'm glad it didn't happen.

Of course Khabib would be the favorite. But GSP would still win. Favorites are determined by morons who are trying to make money off the accomplishments of others. They are often wrong and irrelevant.
@ThePlaylist992 жыл бұрын
Tbh I think Khabib deep down respected GSP too much to fight him when he’s too old. He even said it in one of his interview that GSP is too old and should remain retired.

@Lex026152 жыл бұрын
Yes he's not a known finisher unlike some explosive fighters but he elevated his game to exploit weaknesses from his opponents by completing his overall game just like khabib said. And most of all, he represents well what MMA and martial artists are supposed to embody: humility, discipline, and respect. Something that is gradually overshadowed by trashtalk and arrogance today. Lead by connor mctapper.

When you realize that Fedor had a MW frame, and was beating the shit out of HW's, he had crazy ground and pound, crazy submissions, good wrestling and crazy hands. He is 44 and still dangerous as fuck but without a chin. Fedor is the greatest to ever do it. There is footage of GSP, Anderson Silva and Jose Aldo saying that Fedor is the best MMA fighter on the planet when asked back in the day
