I won 1st place in D.A.R.E essay writing competition and S.M.A.R.T competition, both were drug resistant programs. I then got into drugs a few years later and drowned in active addiction for well over a decade. Now I'm recovered and trying to figure out how to help others.

A part of drug prevention isn't necessarily to prevent the usage of drugs, but to delay the use of drugs. Because research has shown that the chances of problematic drug use increase when your first drug use starts at an early age. The younger you are when you first start using drugs, the higher the chance of developing a drug problem at a later age. So while while we need to look at ways to improve prevention, even a temporary delay of drug use is a good thing.

How can you refer to "studies" so many times in a video and not once mention an author or the name of a paper? Not even a bibliography to be found... Makes it just an opinion piece

There’s a whole field of prevention science dominated by university-based researchers publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals. Folks should take a look at it.

Lumping together all prevention programs in the same bucket as D.A.R.E. and "Just Say No" is irresponsible, misleading, incorrect and unethical. Correlational effects are the basis of public health, yet the speaker claims that only causal effects are valid. Genetic predisposition isn't even mentioned. I'm disappointed that Khan Academy, which is a brand that my school and my kids trust, would publish something so sloppy.

God is so good and Jesus loves you unconditionally. Jesus came and died for your and all of our sins, past, present, and future, and rose again so that we could have a chance to know Him as our Lord and savior. Jesus died for us knowing we may never love Him back. How amazing is that? Do you know Jesus today? He is waiting with open arms. Come home to Him. If you believe in your heart Jesus is the Son of God and that He came down and died for your sins and rose again, and admit you’re a sinner and that you need Jesus and confess your sins to Jesus and ask Jesus to come into your heart and forgive you and save you and be the Lord and Savior of your life, He will. A prayer like “Jesus, I know I’m a sinner. I’ve sinned against you and God and I need your forgiveness. I confess my sins to you, all of them, all of my dirty thoughts and actions, all the evil I have done, all my pride and selfishness, all of my sins, and I ask for your forgiveness. Please forgive me of my sins and save me. Please come into my heart and my life and be my Lord and Savior. I believe you are the Savior and the Son of God, and that you came to die and rise again for my sins. I ask for your forgiveness and for you to come into my heart and life and forgive me and save me and be my Lord and Savior. I surrender all to you, Jesus. Thank you for dying for me and rising again, and for defeating death and devil and for forgiving me of my sins and saving my soul and for being my Lord and Savior, and for giving me new life. In your name I pray, Jesus, amen.“ If you believe and pray and ask Jesus to forgive you and save you, He will. We all need Jesus. He is the only way to Heaven and can set us free.
