I’ve had many people ask what sled I prefer, my 2020 Polaris khaos or my 2019 Arctic cat alpha one. There’s no clear winner in my mind. Watch to hear my experiences with both machines.

This is the best breakdown/comparison I’ve seen. And all done in a 30-minute one take. Totally agree with your last point: if you’ve got a good dealer nearby, go with whatever that brand is. Downtime is death.

Thanks for the info on Pind. Their running board insert for the Alpha is exactly what I was looking for mine.

Great video Jason! Your, and other private owner reviews are so much more "real world" on your hands-on experiences. I'd much rather sit through 30 minutes of your experiences that those first exposure promotional videos.

Rode a fully modded cat 20 years ago...(1080 big bore..c10 fuel...n.o.s. system)..was same as yours...when it ran it went like a bat out of hell...but it was a temperamental bi!@h...some days I wanted to burn it where it sat...other days I loved it....great review on the sleds...been fun watching you this season...looking forward to more...safe trip home...D.

Alpha is for the powder days, Khaos for those technical/mixed bag days. Sounds like the polaris needs more modding up front and the kitty has poor part availability. Did expect issues with the alpha rails since they are new tech, sad to hear them not stepping up for better warranty support, but wouldn't say they're behind the times with what they have brought on the table over the last 20 years. I own poolaris ATVs/UTVs and arctic cat sleds... a big gripe i have with polaris is they've been cutting corners too much, really saw it on our '06 vs '12 polaris 800s.

Had a ‘19 alpha decked out. Elevate kit, Silber turbo dialed. Built a ‘21 Khaos with a Carls 900 and everything lightweight. Hands down was the better sled for me. I loved my alpha but feel like cat stopped progressing for the past 3 years.

Just bought my first mountain sled. Always wanted a arctic cat. I went with a 2019 xf8000 high country. Having alot of fun learning how to ride.

How many miles on both sleds? I know the Polaris is seeing a lot more action.

Thanks for doing this video, making me rethink my 2022 cat m8000 154 purchase. Sounds like a may have issues in the track area and may not be able to parts to fix it. Dealer is great and they do have extra parts on hand to keep guys going. But is a big concern to me, also not sure I want to give Arctic cat my business if their not good about warranty items. My other option would be a Ski Doo. I'd do mixed powder and hard pack groomed trails. I also don't want to be broke down all the time. Which sled is likely to give less issues? Also what sled would be the best for mixed conditions and being stable on the trails but yet flickable and easy to side Hill? I've been out of the snowmobile game for about 12 years, and going down to warmer climates in the winter for work, not doing that anymore so now I want another snowmobile. Last one was a new yamaha Nitro, hated that sled. Never had one issue with it but it was heavy and wouldn't side Hill, was a very difficult sled to ride. Don't want a sled that has those same characteristics at all. Thanks for any advice.

Your '22 cat will be reliable as anything else so don't worry. If your riding it on trails DO NOT drive fast, this destroys those tracks. I now drive no faster then like 60km/h and its helped the life of my track. Also don't try and one ski it on the hard stuff or in the parking lot, again very hard on the track. Alpha isn't a trail sled by any means so its not good on the trail but it shines in the deep stuff.

@@JasonMcMurray would a 17 m8000 162 be any better or worse for packed trail stuff? Thanks much for the reply!

Need the newer 2018+ dual rail cats... it's the middle ground of deep and being able to carve in any type of snow condition.

ya too bad they don't still offer the option for a twin rail!

Í went from a 2021 Khaos 165" that faild 18 plugs in 800km to a 2020 Mountain cat Alpha one 154" , The polaris chassi is way way better but i really love the engine on the cat, and i dont fail any plugs :P The one thing i dont like about the cat is the runnigboards

I agree 100%. You gotta checkout the Pind EMX boards man they are a game changer and easy to install!

C-Tec2 is absolutely not as a reliable as the Suzuki. That being said you are correct. It makes more power. I do love my Alpha even if it is in a garage broken
@patriotsfan12362 жыл бұрын
800 H.O. Suzuki was debatably the most reliable 2 stroke engine in a sled. Introduced in 2011 and it made 163 hp.

How did the primary clutch hold up? Seems like 2018 or older just ate them. Khoas is different than the ProRMK. The ProRMK is better in steep in deep.
@JasonMcMurray2 жыл бұрын
Had to put a primary on both sleds this season. Cat one developed a cracked sheave and polaris broke off a tower.

Front end wise which sled feels lighter. How about a cat with twin rails. Which ones easier to get on edge?
@JasonMcMurray2 жыл бұрын
polaris feels lighter in every way. both twin rail cat and polaris are similar to get on edge.

I have a 17 Polaris pro I have 3000 miles in it and never blew one belt I would change them because they would wear down at about 1000 miles very dependable sled

I'm probably a little harder on belts then the average guy.
