I grew up in a neighborhood filled with Cambodians. My brother in law is cambodian and I love their music. My family laugh when I bump this stuff but there music is so therapeutic it's 2024 and I'm still here!

Same! I'm in Fresno and know a bunch of Cambos. And they are a wide variety! Some are TRG or ABZ and some are students, mechanics n regular 9-5 workers. I got love for my Cambos and Laos and Hmongs but Cambo music is the best!

Cambodia was the first country I ever travelled to in Asia. It's sad that the government is so corrupt and hinders the people from gaining more wealth. BUT we encountered great hospitality from the Khmer. I will never forget these 5 days and I cannot wait to return any time soon to this very exotic country :)

tbh even a better govt couldn't lead the country into actual prosperity yet bc of how much war fundamentally damaged the country. Rn a lot of business families and tycoons are rising (corruption is also increasing too, but at least some local Cambodian companies are becoming bigger - Chip Mong Group) and the gap per capita is the fastest growing in the region. It's still a poor country and displacing the govt is unfeasible, but it has a brighter future ahead. it recently transitioned to a middle income country, and the GDP is now twice its 2015 value! we hope you come back soon :)

@@blablabla-jn5ue We like to see the Cambodia government become stronger, protect their natural resources from the Chinese and make sure the local citizens have a say in every decision he made that may affect their lives. We will go to Cambodia for vacation in August.

I used to be so insecure of my long fingers growing up. Kids at school would always comment on them and call me E.T., (assholes) but I learned to appreciate them more as I got into my teens because whenever I got my nails done, the older Asian women would always comment on how beautiful my hands are. Now I wish I would've learned how to do the traditional Cambodian dances since I clearly have the hands/finger length for it. It's such an elegant dance. But after all these years, I still suck at traditional dancing whenever I attempt to do it at weddings and Khmer parties lol. This song brings back so many fond memories of my childhood. It's still a banger.

Every Cambodian new year and almost in my happy days, I listen to this song! I’m Khmer American though I grew up in traditional Khmer culture. It’s important to celebrate our rich culture and I feel this song celebrates that.

the song was made by mixed lao and khmer In Cambodia because there are a lot of mixed people along the border. It's similar to Thai Isan with a lot of Lao people in the border.

Saravan province is the birthplace of the Indigeous Kuy people (Mon Khmer). Today Kuy people live not only in Cambodia and what is now Thailand, but also many in Loa. There are also other large Indigeous Khmu peoples (Mon Khmer) in Loa. You may not be able to distinguish Khmu music from Loa music because they all sound similar. Have Loa or Thai pronounce Buriram. They would say Bulilam. Just like the word Saravan to Salavan. Perhaps the name "Saravan" came from the time of the Khmer Empire. Khmer Saravan has different dance style and music sound.
@axquivi Жыл бұрын
The "r" sound isn't native to Tai people at all, the Siamese borrowed the Khmer "រ"..some Thai people don't even pronounce the "r" or just don't even know how to make that sound because it isn't native to them.
@Stayed_triggered5 ай бұрын
Saravan was its original name prior to it being changed to Salavan. The song’s itself is about the people in that region’s. It’s not about being a Lao or Khmer song, so each culture has their version. Stop with this claims or steal from all this social media wars. ** my post is not for you two in the comments bcuz I agree with you guys . I just being seeing comments about stealing/claiming and it’s very unnecessary.
