Just love Laura's "swandive" minimal dancing and the relaxedness of it all.

Love that he gives a pause to the crowd so he can keep a time. Guy is a clocksmith on the kit.

I love their sound.. but I don’t like the new songs with the lyrics.. the lyrics ruin the sound of the music.. and this music is to be listened to, not sang. It demands to be listened to. You have to pay attention. Subtle.

@@thegoodthebadandtheugly579 Hey there, it's interesting to see this. I generally like their music and I agree with you, all the collaboration with Leon Bridges is tight but I think it really takes away from the experience. Leon Bridges is a great artist as well but I feel like there are to many songs with him where he is overly present.

@@thegoodthebadandtheugly579 The stuff with farka and Leon is still very good, but I do think that overall that the style they create is very dependent on Mark's Guitar singing and reverberating in the space that a 3 piece has.

Is it just me or did performing "Still Alive" at Bataclan seem to have a special resonance to the band considering what happened there on November 13, 2015.
@RaptorV1USA3 жыл бұрын
prob just you,.... ive studied ( no kidding lol ) every live performance of this band and that song here on YT and no real difference between the others ..aside from the "usual" live performance slightly specific to that night and their vibe..it's another incredible freeflowing jam session,.. one of my faviorites... but point taken....;-)

I think you're probably right - you can see Laura Lee looking very emotional at 16:28 and right at the end at 17:50. Not seen her be like that in any other live videos.

what happened there?
@wonder67893 жыл бұрын
@@Beezzz the American rock band Eagles of Death Metal were in the middle of their performance when three ISIS gunmen wearing suicide belts entered the theatre, firing at people at random and taking hostages. As a result of the attacks, 90 people were killed and over 200 were wounded. The band members of Eagles of Death Metal and most of the road crew escaped unharmed, although their merchandise manager was among the fatalities.

I take it if this song is about a stray cat? that she didn't survive the fight?. How sad but awesome song..

It's actually about a cow on the farm they record music in funny enough. The farm owner named it Laura Lee after the bass guitarist, and some months later they figured it had been slaughtered - but low and behold, one night when they were playing music, it came back to listen. It was still alive.

That melody Mark plays in between songs sounds an awful like Pat Metheny. I wonder if that was his inspiration.
@42sebu3 жыл бұрын
It's the melody to 69 - année érotique by Serge Gainsbourg; a nod to one of Paris's greatest musical sons (well they were playing le Bataclan after all).
@42sebu3 жыл бұрын
(And Laura has gone on record to say that she modelled her bass sound on a combination of Errol "Flabba" Holt's and Dave Richmond's bass on Serge's majestic Histoire de Melody Nelson, fact fans.

Must be bored out of his gourde playing this awful music. It will be very difficult getting hired by any other bands. Don't see how he can maintain his drumming skills. This band sounds like they started playing one year ago. I fell asleep at the Detroit concert numerous times in addition to roasting inside the steamy Masonic Temple without ventilation. Never again.
