In Australia I bought the base model 2024 Kia Picanto yesterday. It replaced our second car, an early Hyundai Getz. I chose the base model not on price but because the ride is better.

@@JimmyJules153 Thanks for your reply. On Kia Australia's website they had the 2024 Picanto. We then bought one. However, we found back orders are 3 months plus.

@@monikatadic304 Test drive both. I didn't see any available as they 'launched, the Picanto prior to the production run and shipping hold ups. I simply ordered the Sport due to fatter tyres and smaller wheels. Thanks for posting. 🙂 🙂

Same chassis & performance but NZ & AU Kia are seperate. They choose different specs on their cars

Who asked for push-button start and digital gauges. Mate the 1litre turbo with a cerato or hyundai gearbox and release it!

MG3 cheaper, more powerful, cheaper to service, more spacious. Kia looks good though. Good review.

how does the manual comapre to the AMT.? Which transmission would you choose for this type of car?

Thanks for the comment. We don't get manual transmission on this vehicle in New Zealand at this stage. The AT is fine for me. I haven't driven a manual Kia to comment unfortunately.

What type of auto gearbox is it? AMT or torque converter etc.?

i have the hyundai i10 with AMT, if u wanna do highway get the manual, if u wanna city drive, get the AMT, because the gear ratio on the AMT is much higher, and if u floor it, its very slow with AMT, so and that point, get the manaul, its a good soft clutch too.

Gutless without a turbo!.. I’d rather have the old version and it’s a little pocket rocket. New version is poor…such a shame .

Nothing against you Jerry but these car manufacturers are taking the piss out of everyone with these cars, so for most people who can't afford a 20k car would be stuck purchasing a sluggish car and only be able to basically drive it around town. Who these days would go and spend that much money for a car of this dimension and use it just for around town. Kia like many other manufacturers needs to build cars that are capable of withstanding highway speed and around town beside being fuel efficient, it's 2024 and not good enough!!. Most people here in Australia are stuck selling almost an arm or a leg just to finance a vehicle of these dimensions let alone have options to buy an affordable car that lasts more than 50 thousand KMs before having to re sell it. It's a joke honestly and I don't know how reviewers like yourself can jump in a car and sell the product and keep a straight face. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. In my opinion any car that's also under the dimension of a 2.0 shouldn't be priced more than 25k... With the increase of cost of living etc this is not good enough.
