adding a positive information... it uses a 5 gear automatic transmission made by Jatco, a japanese company owned by Nissan. Same transmission is used on many Nissan, Infinity and also some Subaru. Goog quality transmission!!

Is that switcher a plug and play feature? Or does it requires some wiring work for making it fully functional? Can you make a video on how to install it?

I've always liked the first gen Sorento and Sportage manual transmission four-wheel drive, but they are all gone around here... If I remember correctly they made a two-door Sportage four wheel drive manual.... But I'm in the US....

There's a guy in my country with a huge body lifted Sorento on 37' Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, he's a mechanic says he's also the first guy to fit 35's on a Sorento with no body lift just suspension.

Here in the US...the 1.5 Gen Sorentos (07-09) had two systems available...(4wd auto/4lo) and (2wd, 4wd-diff lock and 4lo).

yes, that's what I tried to show in the video. Mine came with the rubbish simple system, and that's why I updraded it to the diptech superlocker, which is essential in my opinion

My 06 has a factory diff lock pretty uncommon from what I understand but it’s only for the rear and it doesn’t work that reliably

Same as Europe. Central dif lock.

The Rexton would've made a great offroader, only if Ssangyong gave it some sort of factory locking differential...

Actually, ARB do make front and rear diff locks for that vehicle!!! I don't get it. The Terracan and the Rexton get ARB lockers and the Sorento doesn't. Anyone know why?

What about underbody protection...skid plates as we call it in the US. Here, the 1.5 Gen Sorentos have a front and gas tank skids, but it needs more (transfer case, transmission, etc.).

Bought mine to replace my 2006 Ford Freestyle that someone totalled. It's a 2003 Kia Sorento. The 4x4 system is 2 High, 4Low, and 4High. The 3.5 liter V6 engine gives about 192 hp @ 5300rpms which is not bad, reminds me of the old 67 Ford Broncos, or International Scouts, Willie's Jeeps, and also Nissan Patrols. So definitely love that about the Sorento.

You have to change the wiring as well. Most DIY minded people can do it themselves, so I used a mechanic!!

The main dealer here had a spec sheet where it said that it had wading depth of 45cm.

The wading depth seems to vary depending on who you ask. But 450mm seems ok

Yes. Ive included that info in other answers. Order the diptech superlocker, put this in the search engine. Write to Dirk at info@dip-tech.de . Recommended and it's a straight swap with some re wiring 👍

@@patkapartis5633 more or less. the first version had 4x2 plus 4x4 with the centre dif lock and low range as standard, so it's still there in the facelift version . the superlocker uses the wiring to get that back again.

Just got an 04 ex, has the locking rear end, my 4wd doesn’t work currently as it has a major air leak somewhere that I can hear and haven’t looked into, my brake light on the driver side won’t work though, no idea why.

I've never heard of a rear locker on the Sorentos. I know the 2003-4 had Limited Slip Differential. The problem with old cars in general is that things go wrong, it's not just the brand or model. If it's done a lot of KMS, it's just a case of having an annual budget per year to keep it on the road.

@@easy4x4my 2006 sorento got auto and 4wd low only but the front wheel won't turn when i switched to 4wdlow...the motors are good but it seem like it dont have current coz it wont turn the 4wd.. what's the problems? Sorry for bad English 😂

@@easy4x4 already adjusting the 4wd motor,and had a "tuck" sound when i switch to 4wd but still the front tire wont turn ..does the 4wd motor had problem?or the front axel had another vaccum actuator...i can't find any hose

Hola Rodrigo. No sé si estás en el Grupo Sorento España de Whatsapp o no. Si eres manitas, puedes instalarlo tú, sino la mayoría de los talleres podrían hacerlo. Tengo un taller en Montcada i Reixach cerca de Barcelona que lo montaron. Depende donde estés!! Pero, es imprescindible si tienes la versión TOD.

La verdad es que no he visto en ningún sitio las instrucciones de montaje y creo que es preferible que me lo instalase un profesional. Aprovecho este comentario para preguntarte, cual de las tres opciones de interruptor recomiendas? Entiendo que una es simple, otra marca a través de leds la potencia que se deriva al tren delantero, y la tercera no entiendo muy bien qué hace. Mil gracias de antemano!

It's good even with the off-road springs. a great car for long trips, urban or off-road.

Using low range in a traffic jam ? sure .... but you would be using 10l for 100k,
