This is a nonsense statement. The 177HP will help for sure, but the kerb weight of a Tucson/Sportage is only around 1450 kg for the 2wd model, which is less than a lot of Sedans... I've driven the 1.6 GDI non turbo model and it moves surprisingly well and tops out at around 180km/h which for all intents and purposes is more than you need. At around 140Km/h on the GPS you only have like 4100 RPM and the Engine is not as thirsty as a Turbo driven Engine. Pulling power is addictive, so with the T-GDI model you tend to use your right foot more which in turn will burn more gasoline ( logically) also depending on where you live the jump from the GDI to the T-GDI can mean also mandatory 4x4 and other options, which will add another 7000 Euro ( at least) to the price.

For those of us that do not want the unnecesary complexity of diesel or a turbo, nor the increased insurance costs, the GDI will do nicely.
