I think you should allow an air gap behind them. I got one that is portable but the mounting brackets for a wall allow an inch air gap. You’ve got a potential fire risk if mounted say on board or combustible material. Also some models are wall only. Be sure to get the right one.

Great video! Be interesting to know what the running costs are like eg if you have a smart meter what do they cost per hour to run? Would've been great to get a wider view of the room at the end of the video to see where the heater is and what in the room it's been able to heat up, eg is it line of site heating only or does the whole room warm up?

I hope your still keeping an eye on this vid as its been really helpfull, I was thinking of putting one above the bed but was wondering if all the heat coming off the back of it is going to waste? what would you recommend for a 10 x 10ft room a lot of that is filled up with the bed and wardrobe, I have air sourse heating trouble is it takes an hour to heat up and then only gets to around 30-35c to get the room to 22 -23 if your lucky, so for a quick warm would you have it above you on a google home plug and put it on for short time just to keep my room above 14-15c which is what its been today in this coldish spell

Hi .would a 800 watt panel fixed on the ceiling above the bed be able to heat directly underneath quickly? Not worried bout heating the room just the person directly underneath. The distance from the panel to the bed below would be 5.5 feet...if so would it get too hot? Or should I downsize to a 600/ 400 watt? PS did u check the temp after an hour?? Heard they're terribly slow to heat the room but would it heat someone directly in front quickly?

How would a thermostat work if its not heating the air. I want one to heat my 87 year old mother. She can use Alexa, though. In my mind for a thermostat to work it would have to heat the whole room until the air is at eg 20 C. Then it would have the same efficiency as a convector heater. What are your thoughts? My aim is to use less gas. I also have solar panels. In winter, on a brightish day, there may be a spare 300W going free.

The reason that your infrared thermometer is measuring the bracket is at a higher temperature than the reflective surface is because it’s actually measuring the reflection of the room. A little bit like taking a picture of a mirror, you are going to see an image of whatever is in the mirror, not the mirror itself
