Thank you, Paul. I can't even begin to tell you how helpful this video was. After 2 hours of frustration of not being able to get my case back on, I found this video, did what you said, got everything aligned and case went on the first time! Best video on KZfaq!

thanks @paulmatulewicz. I figured it out. I had a shop impact wrench the variator nut on. It wasnt on correctly and the variator nut was pinched- preventing it from firing.

this helped me just fix my bike/scooter so thank you four posting I'm wanting to know how you got your pulley off on your first video if you could please
@pmatulew18 жыл бұрын
+cricketol I made a fork-y type spanner out of nuts and bolts and some sheet metal. Was crude but did the job. Do an image search on "scooter variator spanner" for some of the store bought varieties available for cheap.

+Paul Matulewicz Pre-made spanners are like $15 from China (off eBay, etc) if the user has time to wait.

Great video, thank you much. Can you tell me, does the clutch cover require a gasket? I can’t seem to locate one online. If it does require one (which I’d think it would) can I use a form a gasket silicone and make my own?
@pmatulew1 Жыл бұрын
"It depends". Not super critical. Keeps some of the dirt out. May eliminate some noise and vibration of the parts moving against each other. Possible that the clutch or the variator may touch the inside of the cover without the added width of the gasket. You can try without and see how it behaves. Silicone gasket (Ultra Gray) would probably be fine. Maybe if you actually follow the directions on the tube and leave it set for a while before you squish it together so that it stays a little thicker.
@TT.Hell.4 ай бұрын
I never use the gasket, because it breaks every time the cover is removed. The cover is not sealed anyway, there is air inlet and outlet so dirt gets in there anyway, gasket does very minimal difference here.

Great video, do you recommend any grease on the gears?
@pmatulew19 жыл бұрын
thersten Only if it makes you feel better and only sparingly. The drive belt and the torque clutch create a lot of dust inside the cover so any grease quickly turns to gooey sludge.

Thank you. I'm having a challenge. When I put it all back together, my vento will not start. When I pull the kickstarter gears out, it will start? Any advice?
@pmatulew19 жыл бұрын
Ron Mason If the secondary shaft is properly aligned, then the cutout section of the gear ring in it's resting position doesn't touch the crankshaft . If there's no interference then it shouldn't make any difference whether the gears are installed or not.

thanks for the video bro. also your belt seems to be lose on yours mines very tight think I did something wrong with putting my belt on..
@fratermus55028 жыл бұрын
+kevin It's not a big deal to have a loose belt after reinstallation b/c the pulleys aren't in their operational positions yet. Usually because the rear has been pulled open to create slack for easy belt handling. Once the crank rotates a few times the contra spring in the rear will result in proper tension being held on the system and it will be snug.
@jellybean13939 жыл бұрын
Could i still use my kickstart even without that spring? Cuz mine brokes.And i dont wanna put it right back without that missing spring
@pmatulew19 жыл бұрын
Angelo Cullat Which spring? If you are referring to the heavy coil spring on the kick start lever, then no, I would not recommend it. Without that return spring the kick start lever could move on it's own it could cause the gears to engage the crankshaft while running. That would not end well. The weird two-finger spring on the intermediate gear is there to provide resistance so that they system disengages. Won't work well without that either.

what happens if someone kick start when scooter's ignition is on
@pmatulew17 жыл бұрын
Unhappy noises mostly. If the crankshaft is spinning at normal speed it would be difficult to get the big kick gear to engage. Would probably grind and complain as the edge of the teeth get rounded off. If by an unlucky chance it did engage, I would expect that it would run to the end of it's normal rotation and then be clear of the crankshaft like normal. Not fatal, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

The low quality aluminium casting which the end of the spring goes under cracked and broke off on my kickstart. Not a good design as there is constant load on the small piece of casting causing minute cracks which get worse when using the kickstart. I managed to repair it by by drilling a hole and using a self tapping screw for the end of the spring to go under.

Best thing is if the electric starter always work. This kick start construction is so bad. I did remove it from mine but the gear on the crankshaft has to be there.
