On most enclosures you can get away with good bracing, but I planned on beating this one so I had to make sure it was stout

I know kicker suggests 3 cubes but I'd suggest 2.25ft³-2.75ft³ tops. 2.75ft³ with 45in² port is plenty. Start going above that and you're going to lose cone control with any substantial power. Especially with these only having two spiders if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if they're using linear or progressive or if they're using nomex or not because I haven't had a chance to get my hands on one yet. If they are using nomex those spiders are going to slightly limp out after a while. Just the opinions of a true designer and builder.

I haven’t modeled this particular subwoofer yet, but as with any manufacturers recommended specs you can certainly improve on it. A lot of commenters don’t understand that (clearly you do) and act like you don’t know what you’re doing if you’re running a sub outside manufacturer recommended specs… I may pull specs and build another enclosure after this sub is broken in a bit more

Have a question I have two 12 kicker L7 Q class in there original loaded enclosure box from stillwater .. would the solo L7 X Solo fit in the box ?

hey bro i have a gatley enclosure 3.25 cb feet net tuned to 33hz currently theres a qclass 12 l7 in it powered by a fosgate bdcp t1000 u think if i switch to this driver ill see any gains in output with same power and enclosure?

With that amount of power I don’t think you’d see a gain with this sub over what you currently have. If you were planning to use a bigger amp at some point 2-3k then yea you’d def see a gain.

So the total box volume should be 3.13 cubic feet? And that's before including the port and the sub displacement? Or should the volume of the total box be ≈ 3.13 cubic feet plus the volume of the port? I might be braindead tbh I think I'm confusing my self.

I don't get the big box store (Lowes / Home depot) ply wood. I'm gonna use MDF till I die. Focal makes Hi-fi home audio speakers that cost more that $35,000.00 each, and that is a MDF enclosure. the big sore ply wood is just veneered scrap wood.

Mdf is great the downsides for me are the immense weight compared to plywood and about 5x the amount of dust.

I didn’t use t nuts this time because I was in a time crunch and ran out of them. I ended up using 2 1/4 inch spax screws

2nd question does the coating you used do anything other than paint the box? I work in auto paint so I can get paint and bed liner easily. But if it seals it or something it might be worth it depending on price

If you use as the directions state I’ve never had an issue, but if you just start cutting without holding the plastic handle it can go a little squirrelly on you

How does it perform w the 31hz even tho the FS is 40hz??

Most subwoofers can play a few octaves below it’s resonate frequency or sometimes lower depending on the enclosure. The best way to measure/see this is in box modeling software

@@HifiVega ide like to see how it responds in a vehicle! I bet it smoothens the roll off below 40hz…no way it would play the same lows as if it had a 28hz FS…w everything else being the exact same…but I don’t think they made that driver for low end extension I think it’s an SPL oriented driver not a low end earth shaker playin like 18-30hz I know it could given the right enclosure but that driver isn’t for that
