wow, hater nation is crazy here,LOL.... soo much negative comments about this and that. how about you people put up your own videos of your home build submersible. OH yeah, you don't have one,LOL..SMH.... true, it's sketchy built at best, and needs a lot of refinement and redesign, but this 18 year old dude pulled it off, which is more than most can say. Keep up the good work Justin!!!!!!! whether or not his parents have the capital to fund this project is not our problem or concern. I rather look at the young American inventor/ tinkerer with the forward thinking and mindset that this country needs again. as a former US Navy submariner, I will say again it's friggin sketchy,LOL, but I approve 100%.

I wonder if he realizes how important neutral bouyancy is now. I suggest a dedicated emergency blow system for his ballast tanks. Redundancy is your friend on a submarine. This kid is pretty resourceful. May you keep your dive to surface ratio 1:1!

Judging by your profile pic, you are a qualified submarines? I agree Emergency blow is always good, also not having wires and hoses exposed. Maybe a superstructure around the pressure hull/People tank

Personally, I would have gone with a propane tank for the hull and use 4 small compressor air tanks as ballast tanks. Weld everything together so no flimsy little hoses will pop off. Electronic solenoid valves for normal operation, but manual ball valves in case of a malfunction. Of course, always check blow bottle pressure before a dive, etc etc etc. That's just me though, I wouldn't want one of these to become my underwater coffin.

Needs a manner of self rescue. The sub should have positive buoyancy on its own, then add a ballast weight on the bottom that can be positively dropped from inside the cockpit. If you cannot surface for some reason, drop the ballast and the sub floats to the surface all by itself. The ballast itself should be disposable, something cheap and heavy, such as concrete blocks or a concrete casting, no big deal to make another one.

I'm not saying that this is not impressive, however this is NOT a submarine. a submarine doesn't have any surface connections. this is more of a semi-submersible given that it requires a surface connection.

He probably needs it to warn other boats about him being under them. With an actual submarine you wouldn't need it because you want to be stealthy, but since he is using it for commercial use in a public area, he had to focus on safety...

too much family money? What about the trust fund babies with daddy's money and they go and become drug addicts? Right? It's not like he was short on funds or anything, with the kind of money he had access to if he really were that brilliant he could have done a lot better. There are plenty of submarines built by amateur civilians with no background in it who built their own submarines that proved itself by diving hundreds of meters deep. Compared to them this tubular coffin is a death trap!

how does he know it goes 30 feet if hes only gone 15? yeah it took two weeks to design, did he even look at any submarines? looking at it id say he has no clue on how submarines are constructed. why on earth would you need five ballast tanks? for real, subs that use ballast tanks (i know of at least one research sub that uses a mercury balancing system to submerge, its pretty fancy) have only two, saddle type tanks or a singular tank that either wraps all around it as a outer hull or sits at the very bottom, saddle tanks being the most stable, the more tanks the more issues you can have. okay he has a tank malfunction, why didn't he build in some sort of realise so that if a tank did not empty he could just jettison it so he could resurface? if he's some sort of boy genius like he's portrayed and he built in so many "systems" you think he would have thought of that. to all the haters out there who say stuff like "where's your homemade submarine?" its on paper and small models until i can work out all the problems (like that) and make a SAFE working submarine.

@maximus.accordion6949
@maximus.accordion6949 4 жыл бұрын
No because the helium would make it float so if he went down with the helium if he put the helium in the air tanks he would still be stuck down there which is why it’s better to use compressed air because it’s heavier than normal air so when you pump it into the air tanks it turns into normal air and than it floats again
