No disrespect to the Aussie guys, but they'd almost certainly come up worse off. There's just so much more money in American Football, so the development pathways and training are just better, and there's a much, much larger pool of athletes to draw from. The one thing that the Aussie's would have the edge in is endurance, because NFL training is highly specialized for explosiveness over staying power. But, in most physical categories, the Americans would have a solid edge.

The best thing for American Footballers who play defence to do is play a season of Rugby Union. They will learn to tackle with their shoulders and to aim low... This will surely help reduce the insane rate of brain trauma that is caused as a result of poor technique and timing during a tackle...

Helmets cause head injuries all the time. Helmets are the leading cause of concussions in the NFL. They don't stop your brain smashing into the side of your skull. They also give both parties a false sense of security, so the tackler goes harder and the person getting tackled isnt as worried.
