There are people who knock this song, but I can't help but feel that most of those people are being disingenuous when they do so. If you don't like it, then that's cool. Country or rock isn't for everyone, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow aren't for everyont. But saying it's a bad song, I gotta disagree there.

@@amandafox8603 No, a lot of people hating on him are his old fans from when he did Hip-hop. His Hip-hop was far better than his country imo, I listen to both genres but Kid Rock has that new age country where all they do is sing about their feelings rather than telling a story. Like when I picture this song, I see exactly what they are singing, they aren't taking me anywhere new other than the same old setting of being alone in a room lol

Sean, I associate folk rock with like Bob Dylan, Byrds, Joan Baez, Neil Young, people like that. Kid has gone from rap to rock to country. Crow has been more adult contemporary more than anything, though she did release more of a country based album recently.

Strangely enough, my husband and I consider this "our song." We met singing karaoke and we'd both signed up for it as solos and the bar paired us. That was 2004. I lost him May 26, 2017. RIP, my love. Keep watch over me.

@@cassandrasherwood5759 Wow, your story sounds so much like mine. I also met my husband singing karaoke, though it was a bit different. We ran in the same karaoke circles and knew each other's names, but had never been officially introduced until one night when he handed me a CD asking if I knew any of the duets on it and if I'd sing one with him. This song was the one we chose that night and we sang it together many times after that. We always considered "Jackson" to be "our" duet though. I lost him February 4, 2017. While our stories are not identical, I can definitely relate to yours and I'm so sorry for your loss.

18 years ago I was listening to this song while considering breaking up with my girl friend at the time. This song pushed me into trying to make it work and not walking away. 18 years later we are still together/married with three kids and having the time of our lives...because.of.this.song. I wasn't really into Kid Rock earlier in his career. But, in the last decade I have really come to appreciate his work. I have always liked Sheryl Crow. A Change Will Do You Good is my favorite song from her. My favorite Kid Rock song is Only God Knows Why.

I wish they did more songs together, they really compliment each other when they sing. I saw in someones elses message that this is considered country. It was the pop and rock stations when I heard it as I wasn't a country fan in my younger years.

And he went platinum in 3 different music genres, the only artist to ever do that (Hip Hop, Rock, Country). One of the greatest ballads ever written in my opinion. I still remember buying this album and listening to it and before this song came out as a single i was like, this is gonna be a huge hit. And it was obviously lol. But awesome video from you. Love your reactions to songs. Please do some videos of some old school rap like, big daddy kane, eric b and rakim, boogie down productions, ice t and all the awesome rap from the 80s. My favorite era for music was definitely the 80s.

A background before this song but the visions you see in the video. Kid Rock hit rock bottom. He picked up the phone and called friend Hank Williams Jr. Hank Jr told him to pack up and come live on his ranch a while and get clean. Rock did and fell in love with Nashville and the natives. He now has a ranch there and is clean.

I've always loved Kid Rock AND Sheryl Crow. They're both so amazing in different ways...& this song was a perfect in between 4 them cuz it's soft like most of Sheryl Crow's songs...but has that rough edge that just IS Kid Rock ❤️🎵❤️🎵

Man, I'd forgotten about this song. Kid Rock has such a great voice and it goes so well with Sheryl Crow's vocals. Beautiful lyrics too, really hard hitting. Personally I think her song "My Favorite Mistake" is one of the best she's ever done. That and "If It Makes You Happy".

This song was the next to last song played @ the bar I went to. My best friend had a bf who let my single self dance w/ them before the last song. He died in 2007. I always toast him during the lyric "I'm off to drink you away" no matter what I'm actually drinking.

its not quite what you think. "they" were a couple that broke up but cant get over the other. they fill the void in the only ways they know you how which probably led to their breakup. then they saw each other again and it all came rushing back to them. also when this video/song dropped, a lot of people wanted these two to become an actual couple of the chemistry they showed on screen together. they do another duet just as beautiful/haunting called "Collide". please let that be the next song you do.
