It all started after they departed from bombai India. Perhaps they brought some food or drinks with them that was causing all this. And everyone on board was eating/drinking it. Probably wine which lasts for years which would explain all the other sailors going through the same fate years after

I do think that person the cop killed definitely had something to do with it , just not sure what . I don’t think that person is evil enough to have that strong of a spirit in the after life to where it can do that for that long. Or something like a curse , if he himself said right before he died the cop would mentioned it

also you always hear this kinda stuff as it made up and hard to be disproved back in the day for what we would call clout. today if you made a article saying all this happened you would need some sort of real evidence or proof and people have so much more resources / sense to disprove silly story's in todays time, that's why you rarely hear crazy things that people actually believe that happened today.
