Some people do falsely confess when dying for reasons like wanting to be infamous and remembered more and leave people guessing, but it's also possible the person claiming their loved one or neighbor or friend confessed to them but be lying themselves for attention or a cash grab for interviews or something.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it did match and they covered it up. Or maybe the DNA they had wasn't from the giant like they said.

As a Belgian, I can only say, do not go too deep in The Giants rabbit hole. All Belgians know its a massive cover up, by the government and involving the CIA and Nato. The deeper you go, the weirder it gets and the more strange things start to happen.
