The glomerulus is the first part of the nephron where blood passes through leaky capillaries at high pressure to form an ultrafiltrate. The arrangement of the cells that allows this process can be tricky to unravel using histology, but it is possible to identify the three cell types: endothelial cells, mesangial cells and podocytes. This video reviews the structure of a glomerulus before showing how you can identify the different cell types using a microscope.
