The shockwave from the cars is what moved the camera. There is a lot of power and been to many tractor pulls with the multi engine tractors running. Less power overall maybe like 4k HP between the engines but they will send out a shockwave and turn you into a vibrator.

First time I took my wife.....NHRA in Charlotte....she'd never been to a drag race, just NASCAR races. I warned her...lol....it shook her so bad she knocked her ear protection off her head and and bit her lip to bleed. Not joking....I laughed my ass off. She was fine. If you've never been then you are missing something amazing. 0 to over 330 mph in not much over 3 seconds is pure power and unbelievable to witness.

I witnessed an indoor tractor pull with nitro/supercharged engines. Visceral pain throughout the body. I'm a retired motocross rider, this was too much for me. My further retiring years I'll be better off not seeing any more like it.

Absolutely love the girls reaction. My first time seeing Top Fuel in person was a massive adrenaline rush. I knew it was going to be extremely loud, but I had no idea it was going to rumble my chest from the inside. I still get goosebumps every time I get to go back and see it again.

I remember my first nitro-virgin experience in a '92 NHRA event. I was not prepared, nor did I have my ears protected when those first two TF rails launched. I had a freakin' 'religious experience'. And I have been attending NHRA national events since and it never gets old. Yes, I use ear protection now.

When I first saw Top Fuel, I cried and laughed. Because it was too amazing. After all, the sound was incredibly loud and the speed was extraordinary.

I remember my daughters, she was a little older than this young lady, reaction the first time she heard and felt a top fuel pass. It was the Summernationals in Englishtown, NJ in June '08, sadly our day ended early due to the crash that killed Scott Kalitta.

They are awesome beyond belief, in the late 70's you could still stand track side say no more than 20 feet from the staging tree. They felt like the sound would vibrate you apart!

ahhhh it brings back memories. way back when i was in the pits at houston international raceway and was walking not 5 feet away past the Pisano bros. top fueler when they fired it up....damn near shit myself n my hearing wasnt normal for several days after. this was back when there was no limits on the amount of nitro used in their mix. i cant still recall the smell n feel how the earth would shake. i heard once that a top fueler could set off sizemic sensors for miles off registering as a 4.0 earthquake. gotta love it!

Back in the early 70s, I took my to be wife with me for a day at the races. She knew I raced, but had never been. I ran a 185" slingshot, with a 392 based hemi on alcohol and Hilborns. She said it wasn't so much the noise of the nitro cars, but the body rush. Hard nipples, wet undies and goosebumps. Big smile, too. She was hooked. Never ran a big boy car. 8s were fast enough.

the fumes are tear gas (i read) hence the teams wear full face gas masks in the pits for warm ups.............and in bed if the wife asks but thats different

Just a note, there is absolutely nothing wrong or embarrassing about wearing ear protection at an NHRA event. The ones who don't will pay for it later. Just watch the people at the starting line. They know all too well the need to protect that hearing.

Ecperienced similar: after testing rpm where clutch would pick up...mechanic at throttle looked around to gathered crowd around the tf dragster...... I saw him smiling...then he cracked the throttle a bit open..... And I was blown 1 feet away..... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That was my nitro baptise....hahaha..

That's what I did the first time I shot a 45/70 pistol was laugh and so did everyone else that shot it for the first time. The loud noise and concussion is the same as a nitro car taking of.

Rule number one for the first few times weather you are in the pits or in the stands to experince top fuel properly Do no have ear protection or hold your ears. How else are you going to experince top fuel in its raw form!

I only plug mine right before they’re directly in front of me for that half second. It’ll probably catch up but it could also be the younger years of shooting guns without protection too.
