These art smocks are waterproof, long sleeve, machine washable and kids can put them on independently. I'm so proud of this sewing pattern and think they are the perfect art smock! The pattern has two sizes - the smaller size is suitable for toddlers and preschoolers aged 1-4 years old and the larger size is suitable for kids aged 4-8. If you've been looking for a great sewing project to make for a kid in your life, this is a winner!

Welcome to My Mum Makes! I’ve started this channel as a creative outlet to share my sewing projects online. I’ve loved to sew since my Mum taught me as a little girl and I find it relaxing, productive and fun. You can use a stick glue to temporarily hold the smock pieces and bias tape in place until you see them .

Great question. I guess I'm not really sure what a teen would need on an art smock. Pockets in the front maybe? Anything else about the design you think would be need to be changed?

Your pattern idea looks great! I'm going to work on one for my husband for use during bike repair (greasy! ). I'll start with an oversized men's dress shirt and turn it into a smock. Great video! Thanks. 😊

That sounds like a great idea! You might want to line it with something waterproof though because I can imagine bike grease might just go straight through a cotton shirt

@@stupefyedits1633 if she's a toddler or under 4 then the smaller size but if she's 4 or older then the larger size

loved the pattern but could not make the larger size with one yard of fabric. The smaller size worked perfect, I even added a pocket to the front

Thanks for letting me know. I think a yard is slightly smaller than a meter so I'm sorry it didn't work for you to make the large size. I'll write a note about that on the pattern. Great idea to add a pocket!

I love this I wished I had this and had know how to sew when my kids were that age because they LOVED painting when they were little and A LOT of their paints would end up on their clothes instead of the paper, 😁 😂

Yes painting is so fun for the kids and not-so-fun for the parents to clean up!! These smocks have certainly helped though 💕

@@MyMumMakes You can make paint with cornflour, water and food colouring, then it'll wash off the walls, floors, fence, house, furniture etc when the paint inevitably does go everywhere - it seems Elijah is an up and coming modern abstract artist! We still have paint on our patio from when we were little (25 years ago)

Hi =D How much fabric do you need for each size, and how much Bias Tape?

You'll need 1 meter (1 yard) of fabric at least 130cm wide or if your fabric is narrower, you can cut it sideways so just be careful with a directional print. It needs 3m of bias tape too. Hope that helps
