Thanks very much for putting this adventure video together, it's so appreciated by those who don't live in your beautiful state. You should be rightfully proud of your girls and I congratulate you on the values to are instilling into them. They will be so useful, no matter what life paths they tread.

Oh my gosh 😍😍. How happy i am to be able to find your youtube channel with all your videos taking your kids to this trail. They are legends, you all are!!! What a great adventure family ! I have been watching many overland hike videos but haven’t see any with kids till i found yours. I love Tassie so much! Been living in Victoria for almost 15 years now and we have a daughter just turned 8. We did a lot of day hike kind of thing but never over night and i really like to take my daughter to do more hikes and in to overnight hikes. When i was younger my overnight were rough in Sumatra -Indonesia but not as rough like here (weather wise). Been back to Tassie few times, last trip was Sep last year (2023) . Really looking forward to our next trip. Thank you for sharing and great jobs to you all guys! ❤❤

What little troopers your girls are! I'll be showing this to my 8 and 10 year old to prove it can be done. 🙂I'm doing the OLT in 3 weeks, can't wait.

Amazing is all I can say. You have bravely shown the walk and side trips at its best. Your having previously enjoyed the walk ensured its success.

Well done Bec and the kids. At the other end of the scale. This June past did what could be my final OT trip at age seventy four. Knowing me I'll go again though. Just the best thing you could be doing with the girls. Happy trails.

You are incredible!! Are you local to Tas? I would love to know what your favourite Tasmanian multi-day hike is? Thank you! The girls just love getting out with me! Such a special time for us!!

Hi Bec, Sorry I have just spotted your post. I don't consider myself incredible but I just have a deep seated love of Tassie and the bush. I was born and raised in Queenstown and left very young, I joined the Navy, married my childhood sweetheart, did twelve years in the Navy and lost my way because of some negative stuff. The Vietnam War, alcohol and such. Came back to Tassie, lost my marriage and went bush. The very best thing I could have done. The void in my life was filled with many great walks, mostly alone but often with a few buddies. My favourite walk has to be Federation Peak. Been there four times, twice solo and one of the solos being mid Winter. I was also blessed to know Deny King at Melaleuca and I would walk in to spend time there. My favourite place at the moment is in the rainforest along Cephissus Creek above Pine Valley Hut. Just such a beautiful place. Fortunately I have remarried and to an amazing lady. I have four sons, two from each marriage and two almost adult grandchildren from the first marriage. One of the greatest blessings in my life is that my beautiful first wife and I still have a loving relationship. We celebrate the ten years we had; our two boys and our two grandchildren. It took effort from both of us but it allowed both of us to move on. Please keep out there with the kids. Just a great thing to do. So nice to share with you. Perhaps I will bump into you and the kids on a track one day. I'm walking around Flinders island next Winter with a buddy but I also have a six or seven day walk alone in Tassie planned. Happy trails and take care. Ian

Oh wow! I love that you have lived life and embraced the ups and the downs! And I'm so glad you found yourself in nature! Getting out in the bush was the best thing I ever did as well! It's my thing that keeps me stable in life 💚🤠 Federation peak in winter?! Wow!! How incredible that must have been! I am booked in for my first attempt in January next year. Can't wait. I love finding little creeks hidden away in Tassie rainforest! Always so pretty! I hope you enjoy your next adventures! I've booked for quite a few between now and Fedders to make sure my fitness is where it needs to be! Happy hiking 🤠💚

I have to say your daughters are extraordinary . I did this walk when I was in my mid 50’s and I found it quite hard enough.

Thank you! They truly are extraordinary! I'm one very proud mumma! Loved being able to have this experience with them!!

This is bringing back memories of when I first walked the Overland Track at age 9. Your girls did so well! It's all such a big adventure at that age. We only had two bad weather days though, but they were both doozeys - one from Pelion Hut to Kia Ora, and the other we spent up in the Labirynth for some reason, but even that was just stunning. Top job!!

Thank you! They did so well!!!! That's awesome that you still remember! I hope my girls still remember this adventure when they are older!

Great job by all of you. If you dont mind my asking, had the girls done a lot of overnight walking in preparation? Planning to take my 10 and 11 year olds on the Overland one day.
@becandthekids4 ай бұрын
Hi! I definitely don't mind at all! They had done a few overnighters, but not any multiday hikes prior. They had done many full big day hikes though! Kids have so much more energy than adults! They are definitely quicker to complain etc but when we got into the hut each night... 5 minutes of rest and they were full.of beans again! I have no regrets! I knew they were ready and this was honestly one of the best things I have done with them! Memories I will cherish forever!!

I am curious to know.....At the 18:39 mark you decide to abandon the "other falls" to find and then went to Kia Ora Falls....was that down the Paddy Harnett Track the "other falls"?
@randomracki94539 ай бұрын
Still to take my kids on an overnighter problem is they are grown up now so can just say no.
