Omg...I just about died when he asked "why does everyone keep talking about how I have a ginormous head." I was right there with dad trying not to cry from laughing so hard. Bless him. I feel his pain. Mine's pretty big too and shaped like a basketball. My mom use to call me Moon Face.

I never knew any of my grandparents and, to the lady who said she tells her kids about her mum - keep doing it! I feel like I knew my maternal grandmother so well because she talked about her all the time. My paternal grandmother I didn't know because my dad didn't talk about her. Eventually, I met his side of the family from overseas and they told me so many stories about her and said I was just like her and finally they brought her to life.

Love that she said that about Mom being around. Of course, yes, Grandmom is here, and it’s so easy. Have pretty framed photos that are brought out just for the holidays, portraits of Gram and Grandpa, uncles and aunts. Special portraits, not seen otherwise, stored in a drawer until the right day. In the Jewish tradition, the door is opened for Elijah to come. Make your family tradition by serving special foods and making stories. The thanksgiving my family and I have is gathering together and talking about some stuff And the food we have is palabok adobo sometimes mashed potatoes, rice, fish, puto, chicken, seafood, and gravy! My favorite is palabok :) (we have pie, but just not as much)

Yes! I remember once my ex thought it would be good for me to have a party and make pasteles (sort of Dominican or Puerto Rican tamales) for all 17 guests! A friend said "I thought you were going to have a party, and we were all going to chip in." I said "that would have been nice." He said "this was a lot of work-- what time did you start?" and I said " at 10am" ( it was about 6 PM). He said "when did you finish?" I said "we're still waiting on the rice"

Growing up we always had red cabbage for thanksgiving. I just thought it was normal till I went to a girlfriend's house to eat with her family for thanksgiving. I got the weirdest stares. When I was 12 I got a half sister from my dad and once she got older she started having Thanksgiving with my mom. We got her to start eating red cabbage now too. Hopefully my niece starts to like it too but she is only 6 this year.
