Am I the only one who doesn't care about the pronouns being changed and loves the originality she put into it?

Why do people have such an issue when artists change the pronouns? For me, it keeps the flow of the song. When I hear artists of different genders covering the original I find it odd and a little lazy sometimes if they don't change the pronouns. The original rings in my head and I end up thinking "Why couldn't you have just changed a word here and there?" otherwise the song seems odd and impersonal. From myself and probably most artists too, it has nothing to do with a homosexual aspect, it just makes the song feel a little more bona fide.

She has a great amount of talent... But the original song is perfect and unique already... It sounds like she's trying to take it to another level, but in my opinion she did not accomplish her goal. This song honestly can't be covered because of the unique and amazing chords it uses.

WOW, I just listened to her cover of 'What Is Love', which was brilliant, and now this - I love it when people cover a song and make it their own, which she has done so beautifully, and it makes you hear lyrics you didn't hear before and makes you feel it differently! Already such a powerful song as it is, Kiesza's voice just made it so meaningful! Seriously, after falling in love with Hideaway, she still continues to surprise me in such an awesome way over and over again!!

I am amazed at the beautiful depths in your voice! This honestly is the first cover I like as much as the original, thanks for creating this. Your version makes a person think just as deeply as the original and gives it a slightly different feeling. The original feels more sarcasticand terribly sad in a way while your version feels slightly sad yet resigned to a fact of life which is ugly yet undeniably true. Glad we are moving towards acceptance for all people, though we still have a ways to go.

The original had some of the most interesting and powerful chords I've heard in years, which fit perfectly with the vocals and lyrics. For some reason, Keisza has completely simplified the chords and made them very generic, and in doing so got rid of a large part of what made the song so unique and emotional in the first place. She's got an incredible voice, clearly, but there's much more to being a musician than that.

ok guys here is something i noticed: i do watch covers a lot because i like it when artists get their personal touch in the song which is totally fine. but recently i noticed that some people complain about the changed pronauns in the song. first of all IT ISN'T SUCH A BIG DEAL and secound of all if a cover artist wouldn't change the pronouns some of you would complain about that to. so could we all just listen to the song because it is fuc*ing beautiful!!!

I can understand if people aren't fans of hers, or just not fans of this cover, but to say she isn't talented is bullshit. People get so upset over covers it's as if they think covers should be duplicates of the original in every way...or even then they would bash it for not being the original singer so their bias blinds them.
