It definitely seems like Avalanche Software wanted to go all out for this game, being their first independent project since WB acquired them, but were most likely pressed for time with the 2 delays and had to cut some things. Since HL was so successful, I'm sure they will bring some of these features into play in the inevitable sequel. It would be nice to get some of these in the current game, but only time will tell.

I hope that they add these things back to the game! I'd love learn more about the dynamics between all the 5th years since they've known eachother for 5 years! who's friends with who, who hates who, who likes who, etc. id also love to learn more about all the characters, their birthdays, their families, their blood status, their birthdays, etc.

I wish they would let the game cook for one more year, it's so beautiful, but feels painfully unfinished. Glad to see there was a system for punishing murderhobo and hamlet-robbing behavior. Also, it's surprising how Hogwarts is still standing, considering how many haters there are.

I love the game, it's all i ever wanted from this franchise since i was a kid, but it really does feel incomplete sometimes. Honestly, the only feature that i feel they really OWE us is the companion one (+a ravenclaw companion questline, it makes no sense that they cut out 1 house out of 4 from such a big thing in the game) cause it is heavily implied during the first hours of the gameplay. They add this, and it would be a 10/10 FOR ME.

i dont think those were only npc to npc interactions. i really think they had a relationship building system for us but they took it out in fear of being canceled even more. BeCauSe MiNorS, even thought our MC is the same age as them. They just didnt want more controversy. cancel culture ruins everything

The fact that these files exist and that the game is moddable means that even if the devs never add these things later on, *someone* will. Look at games like the Elder Scrolls series. Morrowind was released in 2001 and people are STILL modding it even now in 2023. Modders keep games alive for literal decades and smart devs realize that.

One thing that bugged me right from the start was when the player character has to introduce themselves to three house mates of whom only one is considered to be your companion. Now it makes totally sense that the devs had originally planned to have you introduce yourself to the peeps that would stick with you throughout the game. Such a shame that they tossed this aside, probably because of lack of time. I would have preferred Garreth over Natsai and Ominis over Sebastian. I really hope that they will bring the other companions back into the game as they've had planned from the start!

I think Garreth could’ve been the second gryffindor companion but j think Samantha dale and ominus gaunt would’ve been better choices for companions than Everett and immelda

This is fascinating! Must be quite frustrating for the devs to not be able to implement so much of their vision into the final game. Likely due to executive meddling and the game being rushed out the door because WB wanted to see if it would be profitable. I question how accurate or applicable some of the data here is though, since at the end looking through the character database there are some very clear errors, like Poppy Sweeting being listed as a third-year, Anne and Sebastian having different birthdays, or Ominis being listed as halfblood. I think a lot of this data was probably from a much earlier iteration of the worldbuilding, before the game's story and characters were properly finalised. And since they were cut from the game the mistakes were never corrected.

That sounds like so much of a better game. Hogwarts Legacy is the most dead open world game I've ever played. It I wasn't a huge Harry Potter fan, the game would be no fun. Having no consequences for being evil makes no sense. Even the very first GTA back in 1997 made the cops chase you.

Thing i find interesting. Both Anne and Ominis based on the data shared a birthday which are Winter 13. Both are considered upperclass wizard While Sebastian has seperate birthday Summer 1 and registered as lower classed wizard Thus my theory is Anne were originally supposed to be Ominis's Twins and not Sebastian 🤔🤔🤔

There’s also quidditch, especially since they’re a small quidditch pitch in the south of the map it makes sense they had plans for implementing the game. Also they make a point about sneaking around at night so you don’t get caught. However after basically 2 quests that feature this, you’re free to roam the castle at night.

i honestly wish there was more social interactions in the game. like when i was in school and i’m sure when everyone else was too, there was drama and bullying and shit talking behind each other’s backs. not to mention, getting dragged into drama for no reason…they’re literally high school sophomore age in the game so, i was really expecting some craziness. oh, it’d be nice too if we actually knew our parents and family and if we celebrated holidays in the game by going to our family’s house or by celebrating with friends. and also, we were supposed to have animagus forms??? that would’ve been so cool omfg

I think Social Heritage was meant only for how NPC react to your character. The game takes place during a time when the Blacks and other purebloods of the wizarding world were discriminating against mixed bloods. I think the system was meant to immerse you more into the game. For instance if your Slytherin your a pureblood and therefore would be seen in a favorable light by other pureblood while mixed would probably be less friendly or rude to you. It doesn't seem like something of much use to the player to change, more something tied to the house you choose to immerse you more into the life of your chosen character. Maybe the wealth status would determine a starting currency amount but other than that it seems like a system to tell Npc how they should react to the player

I don't understand why they hate Omnius so much😂 I can't say he's my favourite character, but he's a very nice, kind, caring guy who cares about his friends, a totally positive mate. Speaking of favourite characters, I don't understand why they made Sharp a negative character in the eyes of the students. He is literally the embodiment of that teacher whose lessons you go to with enthusiasm, even though his subject is boring and difficult.

How can Aesop Sharp be pureblood when he’s young and change to halfblood when he’s a teen (in school)? I don’t think it changes if you or a relative gets married, right? Was a muggle relative discovered or something? If that’s the case, I have a hard time seeing him and Professor Black as friends, though Black may convince himself that Sharp is actually pureblooded. Or perhaps Black became more concerned with blood status as he aged, but was friends with Sharp before and sort of grandfathered him in (a “he’s one of the good ones” sort of thing). Then there’s the interaction Sharp has with the MC disguised as Black. Sharp seems kind of subservient or formal. I think maybe they changed their minds about the NPC’s relationships a bit, because they don’t seem like friends there. His (short, albeit) conversation with Matilda Weasley didn’t seem like one between rivals, either, though because of some of Ronen’s comments I can see those two being rivals due to their views on teaching. Interesting note: he was, according to this table, pureblooded and lower class when young and halfblooded and upper class when “teen” and adult. Family moved up in the world of money and down in blood status? Adopted by rich halfbloods, perhaps? Another interesting note: In the game, I noticed He refers to Professor Hecat as “Professor Hecat” in a letter in Hecat’s room, Professor Fig as “Fig” when talking to him, and Professor Weasley as “Matilda” when talking to her. I wonder why that is.

I’m not really surprised that the game got cut as the one we have is pretty amazing and you can really tell that the devs respected the original text. If their development time was able to be extended perhaps we could have a even better product story wise.

Just a guess, but I think the other companions for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff would probably be Cressida Blume for Gryffindor and probably Lenora Everleigh for Hufflepuff!

I didn’t realize until now that the files also show that teen Sharp has different relationships/friendships with some of the other professors. Imho, since the NPC interactions with each other seem scripted to me, as they repeat, I don't think that there are dynamic NPC-to-NPC interactions in the game right now. At best this what a planned feature, would've made every new playthrough a bit more unique, but I think the better explanation would be, that it was a planned feature for player-to-NPC interaction. I mean even right now in the game there are hints, like when you finish the whole quest chain with Poppy and have your final talk with her, she suggests (at least to male player characters, It was just my first playthrough) that you should have a butter beer at some point together. Heck, even between adults that could be interpreted, after all they've been through together and having shared interests, as a semi-hidden attempt to basically ask for a date and wizards and witches or not, we're still talking about hormone-loaded 15-/16-year olds here, basically the age were first relationships develop usually. And there are also unnamed female students discussing how some other male student (none of the male ones we know as far as I remember, just a random name guy) is so handsome and he probably has mail coming in from many interested female students. So imho there is a possibility for even both features to have been planned, because even though a player-to-NPC-romance system is straight forward, gather relationship points and at some point you unlock certain romantic interactions, look at e.g. Fallout 4, a dynamic relationship system between the NPC's themselves sounds workintesive, as I can't think of many games that had such a thing so far. Usually games are all programmed to be centered on the player and player interaction, not really creating a world, that would develop socially without any player interaction. The only example that comes to mind is maybe games like Mount & Blade: Bannerlord, where you're perfectly fine staying a mercenary and the noble clans do inter-marry and reproduce with each other without any interaction from you. And yeah although I liked playing the game, it seemed clear to me, also regarding the lore, that it was very odd that you could just break into houses in broad daylight and use Unforgivable curses without any repercussions. Lore-wise using any of them, atleast in Great Britain and Ireland, where the British Ministry of Magic is the acting wizard government, should send you for live to Azkaban. I see how that may be too extreme for a game, so designating it with a malus of 100 house points makes sense. In general I think the developers put many of the cut features in in a diminished form or hints. Like the companion system is only present in a few quests, so you basically have a tech demonstration as a foundation, that Avalanche could've integrated that across the entire game, if they would've had the chance. Or remember quests where you have to sneak in Hogwarts during the night, with prefects as Authority figures? I think it probably was planned that there is a Curfew at night, where students have to be in the common room and if you're not, you'd probably get House Points deducted, unless obviously you make yourself invisible. It also would give the whole Stealth Talent Tree a way higher importance, since otherwise you probably couldn't move about in Hogwarts all the time, if that would've been a thing. Playercharacters having a background story in the editor is clearly inspired by e.g. Mount & Blade and it totally fits to the current game, that the background of the character is simply unknown. There is a clear gap, that would've been filled by the players otherwise. And that characters would be prejudiced towards Ominis Gaunt makes sense (although it certainly is cruel to the child of such a family, who tries to change the ways of his family), because the Gaunts were a famous Dark Wizard Family. Even Voldemort stems from this family later down the line, so yeah, it seems lore-wise, that Ominis failed to change his family, maybe he only managed to pull this off for his branch of the family, if he got kids (I don't know if he was made up for the game or is a character that JKR thought of). And yeah, that some values are wrong or missing is just a hint of the features being cut, when you cut them, you stop working on them. Maybe e.g. Anne and Sebastian originally were not supposed to be twins, hence they got different birthdays, but then they cut the feature out and decided for dramatic purposes to make them twins. PS: And that there are vandalism and bully interactions... man if they would've had the chance, they would've made a remake of "Bully" in the JKR Wizarding World, but teenagers can be cruel, very realistic :D
