it used to be, now its just a smaller version of Dublin over run with drunken yobs, eastern European scammers and virtually nothing left from what made it a once nice town to live in

A least three generations of my ancestors lived in kilkenny. I've recently be piecing together their lives, they were Hackney Carriage drivers and run a business called Dowling & Sons on Michaels Street/Lane (1870-1911+ approx). It was amazing to look through these old photos and get a feel of how things were, even saw an old photo of Michaels Street/Lane, amazing, thanks so much for sharing.

I'm glad you liked it and found it interesting. It is a pity that the earlier photographers didn't capture areas and streets of Kilkenny outside of the main areas such as Michaels Street in greater detail. I wish you every success in your genealogy search, it can be a fascinating journey.
