We explore a strategy for using AOE to kill barbarians without spending additional AP in Rise of Kingdoms (ROK - formerly Rise of Civilizations). Area of effect damage enables you to position your march so that you can get the barbarians to attack you.

hi chisgule i've been doing this pretty much long way ago and have discovered a lot of tricks to do this, i reeeaally hope you make another supplemental video covering what i'm about to share. FYI i manged to hit 5 barbarians with just using 50 ap, hope this little information pique your interest to read this So first off, while you are engaging a barbarian, you can direct your troops to march towards a nearby resource tile and while your army is marching, the barbarian you're currently engaged with will follow your troops. Now here's the important part, you should march your troops to a nearby interactable point (resource tile, allied city(reinforce), random city(attack), flag/fortress/shrine/temple(reinforce) and even other babarians) which you will eventually reposition your army in a place where it is possible to hit a passing by barbarian while your troops are still engaged with the previous barbarian and voila, you're now fighting two barbarians at the same time. there's actually more things to be wary of this but i'll mention it once you replied so i know you're listening cause it can be quite tiring to type all of this and end up you not noticing this. hope my english is decent enough for you to understand, pardon for my poor english skills PS. i actually found you cute before~ keep up the good job cutie~

well as for the things i said one need to be wary about, it's about the (1) radius limit of barbarians and (2) deficit when using barbarians as an interactable point to navigate. First, no matter how close your troops and the engaging barbarian is exchanging blows, once you lead that barbarian a good distance enough, they will automatically turn their back on you and return to the point where the base point of their radius to roam around is (i'd say it's a good 3-5m distance before they go back) and remember that to lead them means your troops are marching to another interactable object which also means that your army is no longer directed/focused to engage the barbarian and while your troops are marching towards, for an example, a resource tile, once the barbarian turned their back on you, your troops will not chase off the barbarians (hope i got the point accross) which equals to spending 50 ap without defeating the barbarian Second, about using barbarians to navigate, if for example, you're currently engaging barbarian A, then you use barbarian B to navigate by pressing attack, when you pressed camp at the midst of your march towards barbarian B, the ap spent to march will not be refunded that's why instead of using camp in this case, you need to first press recall, then immediately hit up camp so that the ap used to navigate towards barbarian B is refunded really hope you make another video covering this cause my friends in my alliance once asked me to make a video out of this but unfortunately, i'm not good with making videos so here's to hoping you make one~ lots of love from k75 xoxoxo

you're welcome~ this technique could be pretty time consuming cause you're spending 50 ap at a time compared to sending 3-5 armies which consumes 250 ap at 5 where you could practically do your barbarian business in just few minutes (there's also barbarian exterminator pros to reduce ap consumption by 10 + insight from peacekeeping talent), but if you're being frugal and have a lot of time, i recommend you do this~

Something I discovered while killing barbarians is that if you chain kill them, the action points(AP) reduces with 2 AP each time with a max stack of 5. So the first time it costs 50 AP, the second time 48 AP etc. So by killing multiple barbarians without going back to your city, you can save 10 AP. And if you have the insight talent which also reduces your AP with 10, killing one barbarian cost only 30 AP.

You can recall/reinforce or go to a tile while fighting barbs such that you align barbs together. But make sure you dont end up going too far or else you will lose barbs

You can, also, after engaging in one combat, click and hold in your troop and slide it closer to the next pack of barbarians. The pack you were battling before will follow and keep attacking you and you get closer to the next one. But if it's too far away you will lose the interest from the first one. I have a print fighting 4 packs of barbs at the sime time (and died). It's pretty fun, but a little hard to pull of.

Wow shinchi the king!! For beginning of the game which epic should i focus first ? Joan ? , scipio ? Eulji(for full infantry in future)? Or may be boudica(dont like to focus more than 3 epics its like impoosible for f2p)

I think that if you go with two armies you can have one army hit one group of barbarians and another hit the other. Then you lure on of the groups to the group is receiving AOE damage so that is get affected but you will get a 3x2 deal instad of a 2x1

I agree on it being quite hard to set up, and that it would require some time for it to be succesfull. But honestly, if you have already ran out of AP, what else can you do? This could be a good timepassing activity, till something else pops up. I like it!

Well it works for me and i can kill 3 or 4 barbarian groups at the same time. . The simple technique for you to do that is to find barbarian groups nearly closing together, even if someone is farther away with other groups, i dont need to wait for them to close together. The way you attack them is to attack the most far group and lure them to the nearest other groups and with the help of commanders that stretch the damage area like my kusunoki, i can kill atleast 2 or 3 barbarian groups without spending much AP.

I've been using Boudica and Sun Tzu and have killed a level 25, 23 and 21 at the same time. It takes awhile sometimes to get the right Barb setup for the aoe hit but I don't mind during Barb events.

I like to start attacking a group, then start moving slowly to engage another nearby by group with AoE, then move to another, etc etc. Anyone else have problems with barbarians randomly breaking the chain and just walking away when y towards u try to move your army towards the next target?

Ohh yeah I always do this thing this is my daily routine.. bcz my city is located near mountain area so many barbs cluster always I use my lohar and maxed kusunoki to kill them... interesting fact is kusunoki's do more damage to the second barb rather than first barb with his Aoe skill.. my only problem is I have t3 and only 120k army size so can't attack if lvl25 and lvl24 next to each other . I manage to finish one barb but get wrecked by second one... I even do 3 barbs same time if they are below lvl22. It's a great way to save AP .. thanks for the video bro sometimes its hard to do . Patience is very important .

Can you please give me some suggestions. for garrison, I am currently using Sun tzu and Joan. (I don't have charles, I opened dozens dozens of gold key, I just dont' have the luck, spined 11 times and only 6 richard) I am thinking maybe get kusunoki and pair him with sun tzu or maybe euji with sun tzu. What is the best epic pair for garrison in your opinion? Consider my sun tzu is lv40 and almost maxed, I don't want to give up on him unless I get charles or richard. (yi seong is not available in my server)

Best epic pair depends on swarm or rally. More important is the fact that you’ve already got Sun Tzu at 40 so I’d start there. Where you go next depends on the skill levels of your commanders, but I like eulji a lot as the secondary because Sun Tzu amplifies the skill dmg.

@@Chisgule Thank you for your reply, and happy new year. I've heard a lot praise about how great eulji is for garrison. Do you think he is actually a better choice to pair with sun tzu in garrison than sun tzu + joan? because i really like joan's buff to almost every unit type and not just infantry, plus she helps rage regen and 25% extra damage is actually better than 10% of 100% damage of eulji (on average is roughly 10% extra damage). I indecisive because i hear a lot of people saying Eulji for garrison but not so much about joan, so maybe my understanding is off, can you explain a bit more?

There's a trick to do a quest to consume 1500 AP, just rally barbarian forts and cancel them until u finish the quest.

Ive always done this. But still theres another way to save tons of AP. Just a secret tricks:D 8kills is my record in just 30ap, using boudica+suntzu or Suntzu+kusonok

If you are P2w spend gems to buy 5k Ap points Then Attack lvl 50 barbarians And You will get more gems Than you spend on Ap

One of my biggest complaints about this game is the concept of action points. Essentially, they are another metric that keeps effort from competing with cash flow. For instance, if I am a low spender, how do I compete with a medium spender? Hopefully with more effort. With actions points limits, that is not possible. So in summary, action points is nothing more than a tool that limits effort and further distances players from bigger spenders. It needs to go away ASAP!

I hear you. Check out my gathering guides. I’m currently #3 for gathering on my kingdom, and I’m getting something like 5-10k gems worth of RSS every day that way. Gathering can help give you edge.

I personally would rather just spend the ap and attack barbs one at a time for a few different reasons. First I don't risk accidentally fighting multiple high level barbs at the same time. Second, which ties in with the first one, is by fighting them one at a time you can go for higher level barbs which means more exp over all. If you do multiple ones at once you have to do lower level barbs so you don't get overwhelmed. Third, with the action points you can get for resources in the vip shop, which you mentioned in another video, it is pretty easy to have an abundance of action points saved up if you buy them and use them wisely. And finally if you do by some chance run out of action points and want more experience you can always go kill sanctum/alter guardians, which costs no action points. I personally think aoe commanders are better at garrisoning cities since they can attack multiple incoming enemies and most if not all of the AOE commanders have the garrison trait. Anyway this is just my take on it. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

You can look at the battle report's troop buffs detail, iirc, barbarians mostly contains infantry and cavalry, so if that's the case, infantry would be best cause picking cavalry, you lose for a bit because of the disadvantage from barbarian's infantry units, you pick archers, you lose for a bit because of the disadvantage from barbarian's cavalry unit, but if you pick infantry, you have an edge against the cavalry and you're also on equal standing against barbarian's infantry~ well still don't recommend to base on how to build your main army by barbarians tho

dude why not just attack a barb then cancel the attack and get the point back ? stack them together like that ? doesnt it give u the ap back when u cancel after its damaged ?

@@okidokiyowyow356 No dude but what u can do is attack the barb then pull ur troops to near another barb and then attack the barbs that u attacked first and u can pull the others as well
