This song is one of the most experimental unique male duet song. In recent time you can't find such singing wise intriguing male duet song.

You *NEED* to see Sonu's live performance of this song! You'll be shocked. It's absolutely out of this world and impossible for someone else to sing. I think he again sang better than original. I'm so glad you finally listened to Shankar Mahadevan. He's really good (you should listen to his 'Breathless'), not just a singer but also a composer (Shankar from the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy). Gulzar is India's one of the best and renowned lyricists and filmmakers (his movies are ❤️). The recitation in the beginning is Gulzar.

This song is obviously inspired by western music. But the execution is what is what makes it soo beautiful. Also it is kind of unfair to compare Ghhunghroo and this song. This song is like pain and philosophy cloaked in the warm shawl of life, joy. That one is purely sensuous and sassy dance number. About Gulzar, his voice was at the start voicing those couplets in Hindi. he is a very renowned and respected poet, lyricist. Shankar Mahadevan is also equally respected singer.
