Kill Weeds But Not Grass With "2,4-D"

"2,4-D" is a chemical that will not kill the grass but is a broadleaf killer, which includes: dandelions, clovers, thistles and many more. It's very safe for people and animals but you must be careful because it will kill flowers . Plus, you only need to use it twice a year: in the spring and fall.

The 2 4 D is great, it can work by itself. I try to use a fertilizer with it. To make by lawn look better. Have a great day!!

Thank you for your post. You are very pretty. However, It is highly toxic, and the brochure recommends wearing long sleeves, long pants, socks, and protective eyewear, and NOT getting it on your skin. It is very good getting rid of dollar-weed. After using fully clothed, I still take a full soapy shower immediately after using. Not a fan of cancer. Just sayin'. Many garden centers to not even carry 2,4D, but I did find it at a local Ace.

She should be wearing full protective gear spraying that stuff is the same as Round Up! Directions tell you to be wearing PPE, long pants, long shirt, chemical gloves or waterproof gloves, goggles,and a mass. When you finish wash your clothes separately and take a shower. Got to be careful with these chemicals.

It has LOW TOXICITY for people and animals. Stay off it for 24 hrs. My dogs don’t love being kept off our lawn for 24 hrs but I’m strict about it. 😊

May kill me one day, but I kinda like the smell. It's like a chemically stale rainwater. Reminds me of my summer job back in college.. I remember getting drenched in the stuff one day when a backpack tank sprayer leaked. Good times..

while this does have the potential negative side effects the rates are VERY VERY VERY low when using it in acute amounts with proper precautions. It is still used in the USA regularly as well in Canada the only difference is you need a commercial license in Canada. If you have your lawn sprayed or ever go on a golf course this is one of the chemicals that is sprayed on it to keep the grass nice and weed free. So I hope no one with these fears are getting their homes professional down or going on golf courses and other places. So follow the detailed instructions and use at the concentrations and with the PPE is says and you'll be fine!!!!

I don't spray dandelions etc. If anything ever happened to me financially and I had no money to eat I could forage for the "weeds" in my yard at least lol

2-4D smells horrible and will alert every neighbor within a block. Just be careful w it, it is potent.

Do 10 minutes of research on 2,4 D aka Dicambra and unless you live miles and miles from anyone else who gardens you won't use. The vaporization point is so volatile that it can inadvertently spread for miles based on temperature and a lot of other factors. I treated poison ivy on a rock wall 40 yards from a container bed and the dicambra, an auxin, ruined several plants forcing them to grow themselves to death, literally. I am sure the nice people on this channel did know but 2,4 D is designed for very specific use with dicambra resistant plants but when used alone, especially in residential areas this can travel and wreak havok on your neighbors gardens and crops. It's not like Roundup the way it kills is actually pretty safe for pets and people but for ALL houseplants, garden vegetables, fruit trees etc this stuff is a NO GO unless you happen to have dicamvta resistant seeds you bought from Monsanto. 2,4 D is a broadleaf killer so it isn't even designed to kill grass or lawns so that works but for blocks and acres and miles it will shift and disperse unpredictably. Also this product was blocked several times by Obama's EPA for these reasons and was only made legal by a new EPA in 2018 before which it was never allowed or recommended for residential appliances. Don't trust me if you want just look it up, it is really well documented.

24d and dicamba are different chemicals but are from the same class of chemicals known as synthetic auxins. these two chemicals are very common and sold in garden centers and wal marts all of the county as part of three way selective weed control products like Ortho Weed b Gone. 24d can be volatile in warmer temperatures and should not be used when it's hot -- read the labels people. The version of 24d that she is using is a formulation known as 24d amine and it is less volatile that 24d ester. The ester based version of 24d is more volatile but works better in cooler temperatures. These chemicals are considered safe when used according to the label.

H B there are studies that show that this stuff increases the instances of Hodgkin's Lymphoma by up to 400%. So no I'm not an idiot. Just intelligent. But hey, people thought DDT was safe too until tonnes of people died from it.

@@katray-workhardplayhard4312 You should probably read about the environmental impacts and human effects of any poison before you use it so liberally, although part of me thinks you don't give two shits about the environment. In appreciation to your health, some of the *known* chronic impacts are: -Infertility in men -Cancers, especially Hodgkin's Lyphoma and sarcoma -Abnormal fetal development All I'm saying is, be carful with the chemicals you choose to put near yourself and family. That list of side effects is probably longer than we realise.
