Looking at this now is crazy to think about the insane talent SU had on staff: Haymer, Taylor, and Simmons!!! Each one went to become Director of Bands in their own respective areas 💪🏽

I love the performances to "Get Ready" by the drum majors! So much energy and precision.

I have to go with SOUTHERN on this one. I don't know if it was the placement of the camera or what, but SOUTHERN just sounded cleaner and more powerful and their MAJORETTES are just........................................................BEAUTIFUL!!!! LOLOLOL

Killa Kev's version is by far the most accurate of all. Both bands were slamming HARD!!!! JSU mellos on their 1st section went PSYCHO CHORDS! Both had their highs and lows in this botb, but all in all this was a TIE! But I tell ya 1 thing, come October 15th, don't be surprised if there's a CRATER where Jackson, MS used to be after what these 2 MONSTERS about to do next Saturday!

Both bands did well but I think SU did win overall. JSU has a good sound but at times they have tempo issues throughout the band. SU of course sounds good but I think people overlook their flaws because of who they are. Come on people both band work extremely hard and they both deserve props.

Love JSU arrangements. WT and Bass horns bring that funk. Plus each section plays there own parts. They dont have too many unison melodic lines.

if yall think JSU wont crankin you tripping... And i have no affiliation with neither.... Except for that 1 or few trumpet that kept hanging over. Either way this was a great battle to bring in funds for both programs. Hopefully other HBCU marching bands will set this type of event up before big matchups.

With 45 minutes in the battle of the bands and with an hour to go, I have seen and heard enough giving the battle but not the war to Southern so far with the war to be continued at some other time. It was the playing of the song Something in My Heart ❤ by Southern that got me also the glitter of the gold worn by those Southern Majorettes perhaps if the drum Majors would have shown some of their stuff who knows the outcome. Southern take a victory March the battle is yours.
