Based on David Grann’s broadly lauded best-selling book, “Killers of the Flower Moon" is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.

The film was too lengthy . But damn it had great performances from Leo , Deniro , Lily , Brendan , John and other actors . The cinematography,music set design and story and historical setting was top-notch. Overall it was a masterpiece and needs a second viewing . This deserves to be watched in theatre !

Only the likes of Martin Scorsese could make a movie of this caliber. This movie acts as the spokesman for the genocide commited against the native Americans back then. I'm loving the fact that we're getting to see exceptional cinemas already in this decade. Bob De Niro is always splendid and Leonardo... gee, the man stole the show! His acting was pure class. *8 December 2023*

I'm excited about the movie. It looks awesome. But what is up with that song on the trailer? Rick Ross on a period piece? Is the actual soundtrack like that or are they just trying to pander to a certain demographic? Seems out of place and uncharacteristic of Scorese.
@ellie-tk4jy
@ellie-tk4jy 6 ай бұрын
@jaylay9524 what kind of racist comment is that? "Pander to a certain demographic" so should we not see the film? You only want white people to see it? Do we all listen to hip hop? Is that what you've gleaned from your limited exposure? Most of us don't. And considering how much pandering has been done to straight white men by ALL demographics over the years including their own, let's be happy if that is the case. Hip hop is big with the young generations (of all races, since it matters to you) so if there's any pandering going on, it's to those age groups. They're the most likely to watch films on their phones and not go to the cinema as well. It's to make it more exciting not "more appealing to the race I know nothing about yet feel the need to comment on".

Watching this movie is a pain, but the movie itself is good only if it not goes on forever. Couldn't it be more drawn out and drawn out? This story could have been told in 2 hours, almost 3.5 hours was definitely too long. I don't recommend going to the cinema, it's better to watch it at home in two parts. They could have made it into a 4-episode mini-series - this amount of time proves that the director made the film for himself rather than for the audience. This movie is like a too long conversation that tires you and bores you until at the end you don't even want to take part in it because you only think when the hell will it end?!?
@badado
@badado 6 ай бұрын
No it couldnt have been told in 2 hours. trust me its a dense and highly intricate sprawling story. Too many people have bad and shorter attention spans nowadays. If you could watch a mediocre stupid Avatar movie thats over 3 hrs you can certainly give one of our greatest living filmmakers like Scorcese 3.5 hrs of your time. Btw this movie was originally intended as a 5 episode miniseries to release for Apple Tv. Im surprised with how deep the book is they managed to make this into even a 3.5 hr film. #ElevateYoutPerspectives

an above average movie overhyped, I cannot figure out what all the fuss is about. In terms of artistic originality, it's familiar territory, same story in Herzog's hands would have been far superior. De Niro gives a brilliant performance but De Caprio is less than satisfying, partly because of some illicit diversions from the real character,, to make him look more sympathetic for cinematic purposes, and the movie drags on toward a predictable conclusion. In Grann's book we learn of death of hundreds by the whites and the movie plays it, i.e., the genocide, down. Also, in reality, Mollie saved herself by becoming suspicious of her husband, in the movie she is saved by FBI, turning her character a bit silly. I give it a solid B.

So either you did not read the book or you skipped past alot of it. In what part did Mollie find out herself? Because the book makes it clear that the FBI told Mollie first and she did not beleive her husband was capable of it and stood by him. If youre referring to when she secluded herself that was because all of her family was dying and she was extremely paranoid. I agree that they should not undercut the amount of death but your claims are not very factual. Coming from someone who actually read the book

Halfway into watching this movie in theaters last night, I walked out for the first time in my life. This movie is painfully boring. All exposition scenes have zero pay off with regard to the plot and have zero contribution to character development. I haven't seen the movie but I was afraid that's what they were going to do to the Osage characters. Make them nothing more than one dimensional objects for the non-Osage to dance around. I'm definitely still seeing it because a lot of my favorite native actors are in this movie and I read the book when I was 17 (read it when it came out in 2017) and have been horrified with the very real events ever since. Based on the trailers alone the costumes, set designs and atmosphere look fantastic. The actors look so beautiful in their period accurate clothing as well and I'm just a sucker for gents in suits holding cigars.

Saw the movie last night with a companion who knew nothing of the story beforehand. Being familiar, I thought it somewhat true to facts. My companion, on the other hand, left confused and with little understanding of some of the major historical points. Both of us thought the first few scenes of Dicaprio with his dentures and other physical transformative aids somewhat captivating; albeit, twas but a short time before the Brando-esque Godfather underbite became way too apparent and more of a comedic distraction. Dinero failed utterly and completely in conveying the wickedness of Hale. The moral objective that should have been on display was lost in 206 minutes of clutter, whether due to Granns's script, Scorcese's direction, or Dinero's inability to capture Hale's flawed character. Whatever the intent... meh.
