We can't rave enough about "Killers of the Flower Moon," so we have an epic review of this epic film. Martin Scorsese has created a Western crime drama that's explosive and stirring, and must be seen on the biggest screen you can find with the best possible sound. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a soldier who comes home from World War I and insinuates himself with the Osage people of Oklahoma, who are prospering thanks to the oil that's been discovered beneath their land. Co-written by Scorsese and Eric Roth, based on David Grann's book. Co-starring Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone and Jesse Plemons. In theaters Oct. 20 before streaming on Apple TV+. Do you plan on seeing "Killers of the Flower Moon"? Let us know in the comments!

@BreakfastAllDay scenic painter. The train station set...all the windows I made into old glass and the amber glass in the church. The general store was my set. The green tile fire place in hales I did those tiles . Aged all the cars to look dusty....and much much more....I actually got to paint deniros show gift which was a replica of his gun in the movie. I am so excited to see it with our paint and construction crew that worked on it this Saturday here in atlanta. We were in Oklahoma for 9 months. From what I have seen this production gave us all credit in credits at the end! Can't wait to see my name roll up a big screen!

Scorsese recently talked about how the slower, tension-packed style of Ari Aster's films, specially Midsommar and Beau is Afraid, was an influence in making this movie, so it makes sense when you describe the camera work here. Great review as always! Thanks! Can't wait to watch Killers...!

I feel like the days of a handful of directors (Tarantino, Scorsese, Spielberg etc.) dominating the film scene is obsolete. And the same actors like DiCaprio, Hanks, Pitt, getting paid millions to keep churning out films every year is utterly ridiculous. We need more diverse stories and voices. Young voices!! - not the same old tired faces and stories.

Based on being a true story and Martin Scorsese’s reputation as a director who doesn’t care about fame or fortune, I had “Flower Moon” flagged as must see in the last quarter of 2023. I saw it today, and admired its extravagant recreation of a different time and place, Robert De Niro being Robert De Niro, and a very perceptive inclusion of Native Americans and their plight. However, Flower Moon is mostly a movie about wretched people doing wretched things (murder, murder, murder), was relentlessly evil, and was so interminable that I walked out after three hours and ten minutes because I was tired of being on the verge of throwing up. (I looked up the run time when I got home and saw that I missed “only” the last twenty minutes, but I don’t regret walking out. The small army of character actors in Flower Moon was fun to watch, but Leonardo Dicaprio had a comical frown plastered on his middle-aged face for 95% of his time on screen. Flower Moon is an old-fashioned “Major Motion Picture” that tries hard, but again, I fled when I had had enough.

I am so glad this is coming to Apple TV because I just don't do theatres anymore. I just find other people just end up ruining my experience with their constant nattering or munching of popcorn or checking of their cell phones , plus for me personally - 1.5 hours is a long time to sit in a theatre (I need to move around) so there is no ways I would last 3.5 hours. Can't wait for it though. I will probably split it into two viewing sessions when it hits Apple TV. I read the book and the book was excellent although from what I see they have shifted the perspective away from the FBI.

Finally streamed it last night. Good movie. DiCaprio did great. Running time wasn’t a problem. Thelma is one hell of an editor. If anything it could have been even longer! The ending was rushed!!! I would have loved to see a miniseries on this story. Some people complained about the length, asked if the movie needed to be 3 .5 hours. I think it did. I think a better question is, do I need to see this in the theaters??? And no, I didn’t! 😂 Make a series on the Osage and I’ll watch MORE!

Saw it yesterday and I give it a 4.5/5. I’m native (Choctaw) so I feel like I kind of had to see it. I’m reading the 📕 currently and I think Scorsese did this story justice. Every cent of the $200 million budget is put on screen (of course $30 million of that went to DiCaprio) in a truly epic fashion. Lily Gladstone is AMAZING. DeNiro has charisma in the most evil form. DiCaprio plays arguably the dumbest character in his entire career. In regards to the runtime it was earned, it didn’t feel like 3.5 hours but I think “The Irishman” paced a lil faster (maybe that’s due to it being a story spanning 50 years and stuff in that happens in a more entertaining fashion whereas in this you’re just getting sucker punched). Rightfully so it angers you and I can see certain people (especially natives and Osage members) having to step out of the theater just to breathe. The violence in here doesn’t feel gratuitous it’s brutal in the most truthful way (this is a story never in any history books and you as the audience need to see what’s happened to these people). I’m glad I saw this on the big screen because there just is an intimacy in watching this on a big screen, having your phone off and your attention is entirely focused on what’s on the big screen. Which is why I hate that some people (my mother doesn’t wanna see it because of just the subject and if she does watch it it’ll most likely be at home) are gonna be watching at home but are gonna pause, browse on their 📱, not have their full attention on it.

Saw it today. Understated is the perfect description, languid even. That’s not meant to be read as a negative, just preparation for what ppl are in for. It is the most UN-Hollywood movie I’ve seen on a long time. But yeah overall completely agree w/ the vibe of this review. As it went on though and events started drawing to their conclusions, I couldn’t help but think that for how long it is, I could have used more of the relationship between Earnest & Molly & what endeared him to her. Maybe it is intentionally the way it is and there’s a point to be understood, if so I didn’t pick up on it this viewing. 🤷‍♂️

Great review. I really enjoyed and admired my theater experience. Exquisite crafts from top to bottom. Wonderful performances from all; I was particularly taken with the actress who played Mollie's older sister, Anna. Everyone was giving authentic, lived-in performances. DiCaprio, excellent, as always. DeNiro, chilling. Lily Gladstone ... my goodness. As you said, what an empathetic performance. I was transfixed to her the entire time and, my anxiety was elevated constantly that something else was going to happen to her and her family. She made me feel so completely HORRIBLE about what was going on to her and her folks and people. My gosh. Can't wait to watch it again. I have minor nitpicks here & there. For instance, I wasn't AS seeped into the story for the middle hour as much as I was riveted to the 1st hour, or on egg shells for the 3rd hour. But overall, high quality cinema.

Just like the Irishman and Silence this is definitely Scorsese in a more mature slowed down introspective mode. His later films are allowed to “breathe” and pause and are more poetic. This was truly phenomenal and might be one of the last truly great films by a classic filmmaker

I recognised the elderly gentleman who was talking to Lily Gladstone across the table. It was the shop keeper from No Country for Old men if I'm not mistaken. I like to know what I stand to win.

Its a solid film, the acting is fantastic Leo, Robert and Lily are great and I expect noms for each one at a variety of award shows. This story is important and timely, as humans we can be so consumed with greed that we are willing and able to kill family and friend. The third act was a surprise twist and felt like an homage to Spike Lee directorship. The score is good here. See it.

Hello Christy & Alonso, glad both of liked it. This movie released in 27th in india, saw this afternoon show & wow what a spectacular movie by Scorsese. The film deals with the rumination of greed & power by american agsinst the osage wealthy nation in 1920s oklahoma. The pace worked for me perfectly & I didn't feel bored one bit despite feeling the run time by the end of the film. The climax took me off guard but when the movie got over, the Indian audiences got up & gave a standing ovation for the living Scorsese. Im glad both of u loved it, which surprised me.

7/10.....Good film but not great. The pacing was better than The Irishman, but this felt like a chore to get through. Definitely see it but comparing to his other films, its on the lower part of Scorsese's filmography. Raging Bull is his masterpiece. Great review Christy and Alonso. Look forward to hearing a review of the new Johnathan Glazers film "The Zone of Interests."

Impressive movie-making. Lily Gladstone was mesmerizing, her inner serenity contrasting so effectively with the energy of the other actors. In some scenes, DiCaprio resembled Brando in The Godfather, cotton in the cheeks and all! Scorcese has presented us with a riveting, and necessary, account of how the natives were mistreated. As for the unusual ending, I cheered it from the moment it started - surprising, yet brilliant.

I wish you would have emphasized more the fact that this really happened 100 years ago in our history. You were 10 minutes into your review before you really started talking about the tragedy that none of us have ever been taught this in school. And without this movie and the high profile stars involved, none of us would have. Thank you for recommending this movie to your followers. Hopefully they take your advice and go see it.

Interesting you brought up “Heaven’s Gate” and “Giant.” I rewatched those this weekend ahead of it. Figured I’d throw in “Once Upon a Time in America” before I go see “Killers.” Also, to add to your point, just 10 months ago, people were lining up for Avatar 2, a 3 hour 15 minute movie that’s mainly around rushing water. Unless everyone suddenly developed a urological problem since then, it seems the caterwauling about the runtime is a tad insincere.

Love him or hate him… Scorsese made his passion project “silence” 2016 and could have ended it there…. But no he gave us a three and half hour gangster epic “the Irishman” with the three best mafia actors ever and his collabs….. and that would’ve been fine to end it there but no NOW he gives us this other 3 and half hour epic but this time set in a time place that he NEVER did before and that he NEVER delved into before like damn Scorsese… every film he feels the need to top himself and funny thing is he DOSENT HAVE TO. The man could rest on his achievements but no he STILL has stories to tell. Directors like him make me look at others and go “what’s ur excuse “?

Just saw this finally & it was just amazing. It's an absolute tragedy that people aren't seeing this at a theatre. It's still great on a big screen TV but it was designed for a theatre size screen where I'm sure the storytelling is infinitely better. Too bad. But it's better on a small screen than no screen.

As someone else mentioned, I think it’s going to be Oppenheimer v. Flower Moon. I think Oppenheimer would win due to the Hollywood politics (?) (Nolan has never won), but I think this film is quite a bit more powerful emotionally-speaking. More honest too.

I read Leo passed on the Jesse Plemmon's part, and chose the character he's actually playing. Not sure how reliable that is, did anyone else read that too, or did I get got by a bullshit articles 😂. 😢Film looks/sounds great, I'm going to see it with my mom on her bday in IMAX. She (like perpetually everyone) adores Scorcese. I hope it makes a billion dollars.

The casting of singer-turned actors in this movie was absolutely insane. After Jason Isbell, Pete Yorn, and Sturgil Simpson showed up I was like dang this is a lot of singers. Then Jack White from The White Stripes appeared and I literally said in the theater “what the fuck?” lol The appearance of John Lithgow and Brendan Fraser also surprised me
