When showing wide open and doing focus on eyes and recomposing can cause slight miss focus, why not just change focus point in camera?. Kinda why I like the Sony Auto Eye focus. Nice pics just my 2 cents

Just stumbled onto your channel, like your work. Where are you located? Why the need for the ND filter when you were shooting with the 1.2 at 1/8000 sec?
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan. Thank you. I am located in Virginia Beach. When you shoot in harsh sunlight, using the 85mm 1.2 or any lens Wide open, you are going to get ALOT of light coming through. You will find yourself, even at 1/8000 of a sec, still overexposed by 1 or 2 stops. When shooting high speed sync, you want to underexpose your model by a stop or 2 depending on your mood of the shot, so that the only light you are getting is the light from your flash. if you try and shoot HSS at 1/8000 and your camera is STILL overexposed by 1 or 2 stops, you will get a very bright picture and overexposed picture combining the light with flash. I hope that answers your question.

Brandon Cole Photography so you are exposing for the subject and not the background?
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 7 жыл бұрын
When you expose for your ambient, you expose for your background. Shutter speed controls background. Aperture controls subject. Good rule of thumb to live by
@howiedunbar61
@howiedunbar61 7 жыл бұрын
That is only true when you stay within the maximum flash synch speed. Once you enter HSS then shutter speed affects both ambient and subject (flash) exposure.
@schneeg

not all cameras have high speed sync plus nd filters allow you to shoot all day long because the batteries are not depleted as fast

Great work Brandon. How are you metering your subjects?
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 7 жыл бұрын
Terrence Chambers It depends on the environment. I mostly use evaluative metering but sometimes I switch to spot metering. if your talking about flash I don't meter cause I always shoot wide open. once I expose for my ambient, I just adjust my power output of the flash

Brandon Cole Photography Thanks for the reply love your work and attitude ( you keep it real without the stuck up attitude like some on here). just ordered the flashpoint 600 and deciding on softboxs/ don't whant to spend a fortune but don't whant rubbish either. Thoughts on your godox softbox?? and what size is it? I'm thinking of maybe the cheetahstand rice bowl but not sure yet.
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 7 жыл бұрын
Marcus Jason Thx. Awesome bro congrats on your purchase your gonna love it. most of use the glow parapoop. It's a collapsible Octagon Softbox made by godox. it's a little pricey. But if your shooting on location go with a 37 or 38" softbox. Light spread is better with a Octagon shaped box. I also have a cheaper version. Godox softbox. was like 37 bux on amazon. comes with double diffusion panels but not collapsible but works great. The link should be in the description of the video.

why you shooting 1/1 flash power???? there's no point to be that hard on the equipment I could understand if you were not using a 2-stop filter.
@BrandonColePhotography
@BrandonColePhotography 6 жыл бұрын
anthony cook well maybe you don't understand the concept of matching ambient. First off I'm shooting wide open at 1.2 on a very harsh day. Sunlight is overexposing alot. With a 2 stop ND filter and the position of the light in order to soften it like I wanted, I had to have enough power to compensate. If the light is too close you will get harsh highlights and blochtcy spots. To fix thst you have to move the light back but because of the inverse square law, you need more power hence 1 of 1. If your confused on anything I'll be glad to help u.
@LaPhotoAvenue
@LaPhotoAvenue 6 жыл бұрын
Brandon Cole Photography the alternative was to not use HSS, use a stronger ND and you could have used a lower power setting while keeping your flash as far as you have here which would have given you a better recycle rate. Using HSS has its advantage but it comes at the cost of power. Nice video edit though.
