People who thinks Zutara only exists because some fans like the "bad guys falling for good girls" thing are so wrong. Zuko and Katara are both strong characters with opinionated minds and so much passion. They both are capable to handling each other's intensity. Do people genuinely think good girl/bad boy shit will work on them? "Enemies to lovers". Did they really considered each other enemies thou? No matter how much Zuko caused trouble for them Katara knew he was not the mastermind behind his actions. His actions are ofc his and he is responsible of it but katara always had hope he was not what he showed to the world. And hence why she trusted him. They only spoke properly once (before zuko joined gaang) and the vulnerability both of them showed in that day was incredible. Zuko desperately trying to make up for his actions to Katara and Katara reacting to his betrayal worse than any gaang is a proof that whatever they felt was deep and it could go deeper. Not to mention, them intensely looking at each other was fcking hot. Even if you are kataang/maiko stan, you should at least admit there was something. I mean they are literally the Mum and Dad of Gaang. Gaang felt more complete when Zuko and Suki appeared. And imagining Zuko helping katara with chores is JSGSKSK. Them having conversations about anything and everything while they do things while others are out. JEEZ YES THEY ARE ADORABLE AND I LOVE THEM. I WISH THE WRITERS SAW THEIR POTENTIAL BEFORE.

Zuko was the ONLY one in the group that saw her as an equal and not a mother figure. The first One to really allow her to be able to have some closure by finding the man who killed her mother. He listened to her, respected her, and was always attentive to her needs. Because Katara was such a maternal figure in the group yes everyone cared for her but not at the emotional level that Zuko was able to reach. I truly feel like Aang wasn't in the picture they could have potentially together. Zuko became a better person through Katara showing him compassion, and in return Katara was able to release her anger and bittnerness of her mother's death. Zuko understands Katara on a soul and emotional level. And yes he liked everyone in the group and would have taken lightning for anybody but he cared for Katara the most. I dont know they definitely had love for each other and nothing can change my mind. I feel like if Aang wasn't in the picture, they really could have been together. Their dynamic has always been raw, intense, and passionate and so authentic.

So back in the day, when ATLA originally aired in 2005, they had Avatar extras, which gave little facts about the show in little pop up bubble format. Some were just little funny things, others were informative facts about the Avatar universe. Well, one of the facts was that Zuko and Katara were originally intended as endgame. It just never worked out. But yes, Zutara was the original intention! so its not exactly...not canon. Just isn't canon either.

i do think Zuko & Katara would've been the better relationship if you try to think realisticly because for me it felt like katara is more a big sister role for aang in the beginning.but i must also say katara knew aang before zuko and they kissed each other and had that good chemistry from the beginning and builded slowy that connection to each other, so when Katara really would've go to Zuko after all of that, than it would be a bitch move for me, because aang also did so much for katara he also didnt want that avatar condition because he needed to let her go so imagine he takes that risk for her and she just make that move lol. And for Zuko it would not been fair too cause he had that one girl from that trio with azula and the zircus girl.

Every time I think of how zutara didn't happen i go into a feeling that is so complex it doesn't exist.

Even though I ship and love Aangtara, I do ship Zutara. They would’ve made a really cute couple. I also think they would’ve made a much better couple that Aangtara. Zuko and Katara were closer in age and shared the loss of their mothers. It was something they bonded over when they were trapped in that cave together. I can’t believe the writers were thinking of pairing these two together and decided against. What the ending would’ve been if these two were endgame. 😳🤩

Watching it as a kid, I knew they were building the romance between these two. The most obvious clue was when they were in Basingsei at the cave where they tell their stories to each other and be very vulnerable. Despite their differences, and their history as the predator and the prey, they opened their hearts as if they're long time friends or even more. The trust shown on that scene was phenomenal. And I swore I was confident that they would end up together. But no!! The stupid authors went for the hero gets the girl path. I have nothing against that, coz it works sometimes. IF THE CHARACTERS HAVE CHEMISTRY! Aang and Katara? Please! Siblings? Close friends? Team Mates? Yes! But lovers? Nah! Forgive my rant. Its just frustrating after all these years. I need to see some redemption. Remaking the avatar into live action movies was a flop. There goes another disappointment. The only other option is they continue the story of another avatar in animation. And please make a character that strongly resembles the chemistry these two has and make them end up together.
