Күн бұрынJohn Prine's version reigns supreme, but this song has meant a lot to me the past five months or so, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Very happy to have finally made the move to New York, and I'm especially excited to have the opportunity to help break in Carson's new studio. We're getting some really good sounds in there. All props to him for his audio engineering, mixing, and video production/editing expertise.
I'd also like to thank Ray Liotta for his surprise appearance.

I sincerely think Skylar and Carson have the most perfect voices I have ever heard. There are a lot of really good singers around obviously but their voices to me are perfection.

I almost fell apart the first time I heard Carson's voice singing I think 16 tons and then learned he had a sibling who is just as talented. ☺️

After hearing your version, I listened to some of the original versions from Rowland. I like your version better than the original and any other covers. Awesome job!

My previous comments on your material clearly underscore what a treasure I think you are. Here you are again and this is yet another fine example of a voice, that in my opinion should be on the largest stage. So moving, so right. Thanks again and congrats on your move to NYC. Keep coming back to this for Skylar’s voice, and wondering why I think he has one of the best male voices I’ve heard. Conclusion: I don’t know, it just sounds good.

Skylar doesn’t sing a song. He attacks it! 😎 He reminds me of The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. Skylar has a fantastic voice. I have listened to several versions of this song. His version is by far the best. He brings out the true feeling of the song. None of the other singers get it, not even Rowland Solley. He wrote it, not John Prine. John Prine covered it.

I love the Prine version too, but my favorite is Chris Smither version - check that out. He plays a great version in OpenD.

Wow, my brother did this song in our band in the 70s and 80s and always attributed it to John Prine because that’s the only version we had heard. Thanks for a great rendition and for educating me about the true author.
