A rare instance of a game looking better than I remember it looking

When people say “Input lag makes it more realistic” Im sorry, If in real life, you have a delay between moving your arms and the mental decision to move your arms then I am very concerned for your well being

every time a villain goes on their long winded monologue I'm always amazed that the main character doesn't just shoot them not even to stop the bad guys plan or anything but just to shut them up

I love how, as a joke, Oboe 100% hit the nail on the head about Garza's death. It's this big overly bombastic heroic death (effectiveness varies based on person) that quickly turns to just a numbered coffin pushed in the corner by an exhausted orderly. The hundred npc allies who died before that probably would have also had a heroic bombastic death, but they mean nothing to the main characters, it doesn't matter to us. We are the orderly in other people's story. So hats off to you Oboe for actually understanding the games you play! (I had to have it explained to me 😅)

Say what you want, this game slaps so hard. The fight with Radec is a nightmare on anything past normal difficulty. I always cheased it with the flamethrower because it prevents him from teleporting and stunlocks him in a burning animation where you can knife him for huge dps. If you dont do it the fight itself can take something like 20 minutes on Elite difficulty.

You know where gameplay matters more than graphics? In Mercenaries 2 world in flames made by pandemic studios!

The Multiplayer was amazing. Also your sidearm is a Desert Eagle revolver, really cool.

The thing I never understood is this game is set on Hellgan, yet the hellghasts still wear their special breathing masks. But the good guy faction can land on the planet and breathe fine without any special breathing aparatus I thought the whole point of the hellghast armor is its meant to simulate the hellgan atmosphere so they can breathe properly off their planet, but the environment of their planet is too toxic for non-hellghasts to breathe on

Love this game. Play it everytime I visit my dad since he has the old PS3 in his living room. Yeah the controls kinda suck but what I love about it is the grittyness and WW2 inspirered aesthetic combined with the sci-fi. I love how the spaceships are just these weird flying freight ships that look nothing like conventional spaceships and that the ground combat is basically just contemporary warfare despite the sci-fi setting. The small arms could easily exist today. I like how the recoil is quiet aggressive because it forces you to close the distance, from which various tactical decision open up to you. Should I throw potshot from behind cover or risk it to get a better shot by moving closer. The knife instantly kills normal enemies, so if you knew what you where doing you could exploit openings and rampage through enemies with a combination of melee and relentless gun fire, moving from cover to cover.

Killzone 2 was the only game to give me motion sickness before VR games were a thing. The combination of low framerate, narrow FoV, horrific input delay, and constant screen wobble from walking, reloading and environmental effects made me put the game down for days at a time. And no, the input delay wasn't a technical limitation, because when you play the online PvP there's NO INPUT DELAY! Only in Campaign mode! EDIT: My mistake, I was thinking of Killzone 3's multiplayer that got rid of the input delay. Killzone 2 multiplayer is as chonky as ever.

Fun fact: the Killzone 2 servers have been semi revived by the community. There are 2 community servers!

Thats actually a really cool loading screen gimmick. Give us holo cards to tilt and twist in more PS games. Namely card games but I'm not picky.

I played this recently on an HD CRT tv recently and my mind was so blown, the colors are so vivid and the CRT forgives the blurriness while still being hdmi HD

Of all the games I played on PS3 back in the day, this was one of my favorites, surprised you didn't include anything about the opening cinematic which really set the tone for the whole game.

Whenever i got tired of hearing about my friends 360 at school i would make sure we played killzone 2 before football practice so everyone was talking about that instead.

Still my favorite of the franchise. Wish we'd get another FPS meaty, gritty, and weighty like Killzone 2. 3 has great melee kill animations though. Also, frak you Rico. The real villain of the Killzone Trilogy.

If Killzone 2 had Killzone 3's tighter shooting controls it would be a lot more fun to play. I still think KZ2 is the best in the series though.

they expected you to take more than 20 minutes to kill General Badguy because of the 10 minutes of input lag.

Killzone 2 was visually mind-blowing when it came out and still looks great today. Loved the heavy and slow gameplay as well. Atmosphere and missions were all great. The only negative was the forgettable and somewhat annoying main characters. I would buy a remaster in a heartbeat.

The multiplayer was pretty fun in killzone 2 and killzone 3 multiplayer was also decent. I have fond memories of the second games multiplayer though!

Better hope that no one from Northfolk Southern Railroad see this or they'll purposefully derail a train just to get to you, lol.

Haven’t played this game recently but it was my favorite game for a while. The online mode was sick especially when playing as the sniper and being able to sort of go invisible

Man this game really nailed the presentation.

Ironically if you hear a sniper rifle on real life the gunshot happens at the same time as the bullet impact because of how fast the bullet travels. So realistically you wouldn’t hear the gunshot until you’d been hit by the bullet!

I don't think we'll ever see a video game franchise where the upgrade in graphics between the sequel and its predecessor are as drastically transformative as the transition between Killzone 1 on PS2 and Killzone 2 on PS3.

They always got a good big name actor to be the main bad in these games. In this one, it was Brian Cox, who played Col. Stryker in the second X-Men movie, and was in the Bourne Identity.

I rented that game when it came out and was highly up set because one of my favorite things about the first one was the guns had alt fire modes, like the grenade launcher, the one shot shot gun on the hellgast AR, the regular shot gun have a double shot. Why did the do away with that??

Guerrilla Games always have amazing graphics and middling gameplay

I had the exact same complaint about the input lag with the controls, and its annoying to me how fans ignore it or excuse it.

Killzone 2 was my first multi-player FPS. First time I had ever played online on a console... it blew my fucking mind.

Speaking of input response i remember playing dark sous 2 for the first time on mouse and keyboard and the input response was abysmal. Something like .5 seconds. I kept playing because i didn't know how to fix it. Still finished it.

Is it input lag or is it really weird sensitivity mixed with aim smoothing or whatever it's called? It seems like your camera moves as soon as you move the stick but it takes a moment for the sensitivity to catch up to speed with it.

I had a Vizio 3D 98% coloraccurate TV on the PS3 and when you moved the loading screen with your controller it was 3D same with the 3rd game call of duty bo1 bo2 mw2 mw3 and a bunch more hope I can fix the tv I'm thinking the hdmi went bad

Multiplayer runs at 60fps without input lag. You can still try it with bots.

to answer your question on why they force implemented the motion controls: new releases on consoles often have contracts that oblige them to implement the new features of said console LIKE the motion control in this and ratchet and clank - tools of destruction thats also one of the reasons why Ratchet and Clank - Rift apart makes so extensive use of the haptic triggers of the ps5 controller

so the input lag is why I remember the gunplay so vividly... I really liked how everything felt as heavily weighted as they looked but I think you can portray that with animations that don't affect how fast you can turn around

You gotta play the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 campaign, I'm pretty sure it has at least 1 situation where the bad guy is giving a boring speech and you can just shoot him.

I enjoyed back in the day when I was going through my console phase. The maps had some cool designs and nice verticality (Though I can still remember spawn bacons getting a little crazy sometimes).

playing it on my 48" LG c1 and thanks to the resolution filters the game looks perfect, zero blurring, it looks like playing at 1080p and that the game runs at a 720p resolution, the input lag problem is also eliminated thanks to the settings low latency that the TV has
