If I try to explain this to anyone they just don’t understand. “I’m watching some guy that I don’t even know operate a sawmill way over in the other end of Tennessee”, but brother I like everything you’re doing. I always come away from your videos feeling instructed, encouraged and entertained and I thank you for all of that. Great teaching, excellent video editing and mighty fine music too. Thank you

Nathan, Chris taught you a very valuable trick. Framing squares can be very useful in the shop. We used them when we were building doors, prehung doors, especially exterior units, cabinets, etc. I wanted to make sure everything was square when it left the shop.

I keep a speed square in my tool belt when I'm sawing for getting the log right for that third cut. It's good enough most of the time. If the face is too high up for the speed square, or if I want it to be perfect, a framing square is handy. Now If I could just figure out how to get that log turned back to square after I've accidentally turned it too far I'd be doing real good.

Of course it never feels like work, it is fun and a hobby. LOL. I do it almost every day except for milling the logs which I only do occasionally on logs that are under 14 inches in diameter and no more than 8 feet longer on a regular bandsaw with rollers on both indeed and outscored sides.

Good idea on how to help keep things squared up. Question: Is the whole saw mill jacked up a little to relieve the two tires from resting on the floor in one place? Also..I noticed that both tires are uncovered and exposed to the saw mill kicking up all the dust and perhaps the tires are getting hit with splinters at a high rate of speed when sawing wood. I've seen people who own campers use tire covers when the camper is not in use. The covers are in the shape of the tire and fit snug around them. Made of nylon tarp I would think. Since you're not moving the mill around very much, maybe covers would help protect the tires. Just a thought.

I’m a total newb to sawmills so excuse this question- 1. Can you use that beam right away with no drying? 2. If you dry it out and put the framing square back on it will it hold true or twist a little? Thanks for your videos, we really enjoy them. Just bought 100+ acres in N Idaho and we have lots of trees.

Nathan, this was another terrific video. Thanks for your attention to the camera setups and great camera angles to give us viewers a clear view and understanding of what we’re watching. You are also a wonderful explainer. The explanation of squaring up your timber cuts was very clear. The part of the video where you take us across that open field of grass, blew me away. Did you get that with a drone? Some of your opening shots above your place or area, l assume you get with a drone. They are great intros into videos. Does using a drone add a lot of setup time or editing time? Thank you so much for these videos and your milling and drying craft! God bless you brother, from CentralTexas.
