Betty Davis was one of the greatest actresses we've ever had especially in the 1930s and 40s 1950 all about Eve was probably her high point she took roles of other women were afraid to take on she was a kick-ass lady who fought for her rights and women's rights and she didn't give a damn what anybody thought and she had the best biggest most beautiful eyes in the movies ever

Bette Davis with an "e" is the great actress. Betty Davis with a "y" is actually a funk singer, best known for her song "If I'm In Luck" and for being married to Jazz great Miles Davis at one time, for about a year, and being influential on his music during that year. Betty Davis, the singer, retired from music in 1979, and isn't remembered as much today, but she was controversial in the 1970s for singing too many sexual kinds of songs. This year, (2019) Betty Davis, the singer, came out of retirement to release her first new song in 40 years, called "A Little Bit Hot Tonight." So when speaking of the actress we should remember she spelled it with an "e," while the singer used a "y."

Then when she found out they were both from the 30's she was like "you are old school", and I told her you will like these better than the BTTF movie and she was like Naaaaa. @@jamespasifull that's a pretty cool hobby to have collecting personal effects. One REALLY gets to know how a person, who may be famous, actually acts and feels away from the spotlight, and it's a great "microcosm" of history during those times. My daughter likes that period as well. She's a senior art major in college and her favorite thing is the "nose art" on the warbirds of the Second World War on up through Vietnam (an interest of her Pap she was curious about). Lol, there was no shortage of "pin-up" girls on the aircraft that flew over Europe and the Pacific (an art medium and style I enjoy). I took some art classes while in college during the early eighties before necessities dictated that I take a full-time job, thinking I'd go back at some point. Lol, decades later here I am in my mid-fifties, retired, and chatting with a fellow "father," doting over our daughters...lol, great stuff though. I only know you through a short comment, but it's not hard to see that you're a proud Papa, and rightfully so. Lol, talk about a "pissed off" Mama bear being protective...try squaring up with a Papa over his daughter (oh, how I loved scaring the sht out of her first date. Lol, the poor kid wouldn't talk to me for months afterward). Anyway, thanks for the reply and sharing info about your kid. I'll keep a good thought for you, daughter, and the rest of your family. this song might be the most popular song by Kim Carnes, she was very popular in the 80s, one of her songs appeared on the movie "Flashdance", it was titled "I'll Be There Where The Heart Is"

Bette Davis was a legendary Hollywood actress with a career spanning more than 50 years. She was known for her large eyes, half closed, but piercing. The kind of eyes that looks right through you and your reaction is I ain't messing with this lady. A very independent woman who stood her ground to all the Hollywood studio moguls (Keep in mind, this is the 30's and 40's before women's lib). She became friends with Kim Carnes after this song was a hit, and Kim gave her one of her gold record awards. Check out two of my favorite movies of hers, "The Letter" and "The Little Foxes". Those movies are great examples of the inspiration behind the song.

Thank you for reacting to this song, one of my favorites in my teens. I think it was my father who brought home a cassette with Kim Carnes .. He brought home much music from the US... I learn much reading the comments here, and I have seen many of the actors mentioned in movies even though I was born in 1970. Our national broadcaster had a thing with old movies back then ;)

Ooh, Kim Carnes, you ARE diversifying ! This was the lead track from the album "Mistaken Identity" by Kim. There's plenty of great tracks to discover on that one if you fancy a trip down a rabbit hole that no other reactor will have been down. Keep up the good work lass...

Bette Davis lived in my hometown of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and had a beautiful old oceanfront estate on Zeb Cove. The town is small and lots of twisting roads so when the Hollywood folks would visit they would get lost. So many stopped and asked "which way to Bette's house?" that she decided to name her house that. But She called it "Witch Way" instead! She was famous for playing a tough woman and embraced it. So CLASSY! Unfortunately Witch Way was torn down about 20 years ago, such a shame.

This song is about a woman who gets what she wants from her looks and ability to play the actress role without sacrificing much!! The Best Movie Bettie Davis was in besides what was mentioned IS!! Her Collaboration with Joan Crawford called "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane "!! That Movie Freaked Me Out when I seen it for the first time when I was only 6 years old!! OBTW, Despite Kim Carnes considered a One hit Wonder,She Had another Song that had a short play on the radio back then called "Draw Of The Cards "!! Great Song Worth Checking Out!!

It astounds me how people as legendary in the motion picture industry as Bette was are simply unknown today. It is a sad state of being human, I suppose, to forget the past. But it is very cool that you've taken the opportunity to go back and listen to these old songs (which are still great, IMO). You should try viewing a few old Bette Davis movies. She was very unique. Even if the movie wasn't very good, she was great.

Colossal hit single of the 1970's. Forerunner of the graphic sexy allusions of 1980's pop rock music. After this song raced to the top of the charts, Kim Carnes actually did meet Betty Davis! Funny -- because all this hoopla was spun as early as 1930's Hollywood! Thanks, India, for yet another great REACTION!!!
