@@tony1685 Please forgive me. I’m not a great scholar. I am just curious however, that this is the unfortunate argument that was current even then among the first believers. The whole book of Galatians is dedicated to why go back to follow the law instead of living in Grace. Jesus completely fulfilled the law and His blood did what the law could never do. A new covenant. Paul did seem to have a habit of going to the Jews first wherever he went to explain the new covenant. And the Jews that were scattered abroad met on the Sabbath day at the synagogues. they usually rejected him and he suffered persecution and then he offered the gospel to the Gentiles. But the believing Jews seemed to celebrate the Eucharist on the First day of the week. Acts 20:7. But as I said before, I don’t know anything. I’m just a soul in Love with Jesus.

The Scriptures have one Author and don't need to be "reconciled" to each other, except in explanation. If you misspoke and you want to know how we justify our doctrine/practice in relation to these texts of Scripture, that requires you to tell us your understanding of them, and how you think Catholic doctrine or practice diverges from them.

Catholicism stands for everyone's holiness. That's why the Church is encouraging us to utilize the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Confession, to confess our sins, and try our best to not commit them again. You're saying quite the contrary.

@@tony1685 What are you talking about ? The Priest does not forgive, Jesus forgives. The Priest is the Intercessor. Jesus is present in the Confessional. We KNOW we are forgiven when we get absolution. There is humility in actually going physically to confess, you humble yourself, and have contrition. You also receive a penance, and God's mercy. Catholics believe you receive actual graces from the Sacraments. Confession gives you grace which helps us. Exorcists say Confession is a minor Exorcism. Jesus paid the price as you call it, but we have to repent for our sins and make reparation. You can't just say I accept Jesus as Saviour, one time and do nothing else. That is easy. That takes no commitment or effort. You have to make reparation for your Sins against God. That is what Justice is, and God is Merciful but also Just. He is the Just Judge. 'Whoever's sins you forgive they are forgiven, whoever's sins you retain they are retained.' In saying this, Jesus gave the Apostles the power to forgive Sin, just as the Priests, as successors, have the power.
