Hey friends! If you like reading books on Kindle, you might have wondered how you could extract your highlights in an organized way and save them as notes. About an year ago, I built an app to sync Kindle highlights to a Notion database. While that app worked well, it was difficult for non-technical folks to set up as it required downloading software and running it on their system locally. So, I spent the last few days updating the app, so that you can setup and use this app directly from your browser, without having to install anything on your computer.

Thank You for the detailed instructions. This worked well for me. I subsequently created a python script that pushes the My Clippings.txt to the repo with just a double-click of an icon on the desktop/shortcut. (works in windows only)

Thanks Abdur. Books/Highlights were pushed to Notion but GitHub ultimately says that the workflow failed and shows multiple warnings related to deprecated commands (e.g., "set-output"). Would LOVE to see an update on this...and would happily pay for it. Any way to customize the appearance of the highlights or include the location? I've tried Readwise but it's inability to sync non-Amazon files was a dealbreaker.

This is amazing! Thank you for this. Just a question: are we able to delete and add some columns from your notion database template? I can see that the Title, Author, and Book Name columns are auto populated, so I am assuming we cant delete those since that would mess up the code. But what about the Date, Genre, Status columns? Can we edit or delete those?

Hi Haider, you can edit other columns (date, genre, status, etc.). You can also add extra columns if you want.

Hey Tahseer, Seems that something has changfe since you created the tutorial, at least for me, when trying to identify the value to put into the variable, is different. Would you have any idea how to identify the right value? Thanks!

Okay, I did this. I tried to link it to a preexisting filled in database (same template as provided), it didn't work until I added two columns (title and book name) however it did not sync with the books already there. now there are two pages for each book I've read; one with the details filled in (author, genre, start date etc) and one the code added on with just the names and the quotes within the page. So I'm going to have to separate these two by separating my reading list from my quotes which defeated the purpose but it's better than nothing. Thanks

Hi Tahseer, thank you for this gorgeous project! Unfortunately, after following your tutorial step by step, the sync job runs (so it seems to work in theory), however no books are added to the DB. Any idea? I also found some annotations about deprecated actions. Maybe that's the issue? I'm very glab about any updates! :) Best regrads, Jonas

Hey Tahseer, thanks for this. Am I right in saying this will only sync books that have less than 100 highlights? I am running into the following 400 error -'body failed validation: body.children.length should be ≤ `100`, instead was `101`.' After doing some digging I believe this to be because Notion API has a limit of 100 blocks when creating a page. Is there any way around this?

Thank you, great tutorial! Unfortunately, I got a error message in line 115 "Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/code/resources/My Clippings.txt'". In Notion around 70% of my highlights are displayed until: "You have reached the maximum number of clipboard entries for this content". I don't share notion with someone in my teamspace so this massage shouldn't show up. Can somebody help me out with this? :)

Tried this got an error of failed to sync highlights APIResponseError: Invalid request URL. I doubled checked my secret and variable. The secret matches my integration API on notion. The variable is the book id in the format indicated. Book Highlights is connected. Any ideas?

When you open kindle/documents in your explorer, you've got a searchbar in the right upper corner. At least in Windows.

Unfortunately, I am not able to add secret to github, it gives me an error. Anybody can help me ? Failed to add secret. Secret names can only contain alphanumeric characters ([a-z], [A-Z], [0-9]) or underscores (_). Spaces are not allowed. Must start with a letter ([a-z], [A-Z]) or underscores (_).

🔁 Syncing book: Historia oficial del amor (Spanish Edition) @notionhq/client warn: request fail { code: 'object_not_found', message: 'Could not find database with ID: c3a3aa2f-17e4-XXXX-b4ff-8da84aXXXXXX. Make sure the relevant pages and databases are shared with your integration.' } I was able to debug this issue by opening the database as full page and copying its ID into the BOOK_DB_ID variable.
