King Charles III Diagnosed With Cancer Says Buckingham Palace

The King has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The Palace confirmed the disease, which is not prostate cancer, was discovered while the King was being treated in hospital for an enlarged prostate.
The King has started a schedule of regular treatments, but has been advised to postpone his public-facing duties.
The Palace declined to confirm the type of cancer.
He will carry on working behind the scenes on state business and official papers, and returned from Sandringham to London on Monday to commence treatment as an out-patient.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted.
“Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.
“Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.
“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure.
“He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.
“His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
Charles, 75, was discharged from the London Clinic a week ago after undergoing treatment on an enlarged prostate.
The shock news is the latest health scare to hit the royal family at the start of 2024, coming after the King’s hospital stay, the Princess of Wales’s major abdominal surgery and Sarah, Duchess of York’s diagnosis of skin cancer.
Buckingham Palace announced on January 16 that the King was to have treatment for an enlarged prostate, but that the condition was benign.
The Palace announced the King’s cancer diagnosis at 6pm on Monday.
Charles, who acceded to the throne just 17 months ago, was last seen on Sunday when he attended church in Sandringham.
The Duke of Sussex has spoken with the King about his cancer diagnosis and will travel to the UK to see him in the coming days, a source close to Harry said.

Princess Catherine will have their nanny and her Mum to support her and their children. William will be there some of the time and that's the same for normal families, very few fathers could take a whole 3 months off work. I am impressed that King Charles has been totally open about his cancer diagnosis. It takes away the stigma that some people have about cancer. I wish him well and a speedy recovery.

As a nurse, I’ve seen a lot of patients survived cancer. I’m positive that King Charles will survive this one. Let’s be kind and also think about his family who are affected by this diagnosis. It’s never easy to have a family member with cancer. Praying for safe recovery, may God save the King❤.

I ve been listening to carnivore diet pods with regards to cancer and a specialized dr that has been studying cancer for over 30 years says that cancer is not genetic but a metabolic disease. He stated that one can cure (put in recession) cancer by starving the cancer ie fasting and going into ketosis. Its a very informational pod cast.

He is strong, and I am hopeful he has been caught early and will make a good recovery. He's made good by telling us. He's helped others in doing so, too. Let's just pray for a good outcome and go back to visiting the public and his duties. He's still going to be doing the red box. Pray for Prince William and Catherine's recovery, too.

@emanuelbenicio3501 No, don't worry yourself. He's v healthy eater and v strong. He'll have the v best pf treatment, too. London has top drs. Not all cancers are aggressive. Some are v slow moving. Much progress has been made over the years. Please don't be scared. Treatments are advanced for many cancers now. Just pray for him, and Catherine and Prince William has a good head on his shoulders. With princess Anne to support and guide him if need be. Edward is also a great man, so there's lots of support there. He's still young by many standards. The good thing is he is v fit and active, and that will help him enormously.

Sixteen years ago I was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had the operation where they removed 80%of my stomach. It's no surprise that King Charles' health has been compromised given the amount of stress he has endured throughout his life. From his early life, his marriage to Diana, and in recent years his heartbreak with Prince Harry and Meghan, the downfall of his brother Prince Andrew, the death of his father Prince Philip and then taking on the responsibilities of a monarch following his mother's death. However, this must be the greatest challenge of his life.

Also for the William, Camillma, Anne, Edward and Sophie who are now are going to have to be extremely busy representing not only their duties but Catherines and Charles'. Just hope there's not extra stress put on them by the "OTHERS". They've put emotional, mental, and physical stress on them for years, William definitely shouldn't have to deal with them. I remember their temper tantrums during the Queens funeral.

I live in the USA but I care very much for what goes on in the UK and monarchy. My prayers go out to the King and I wish him a very speedy and successful recovery. I also hope that the Princess of Wales is recovering and will be up and feeling chipper soon. A prayer out to Prince William because he has had to endure so much lately and now with news of his father’s new illness I know he must be devastated.

I was diagnosed with Cancer in my breast but it is localized. They removed it but I probably still have to undergo radiation. Luckily it didn’t go into my lymph nodes or metastasized. King Charles was diagnosed with cancer but it isn’t from his pancreas. That is something that’s concerning.

Cancer is treatable. I can attest to that. I had a rare blood cancer, stage 4. In remission for 14 years now. I am glad King Charles has been diagnosed and is being treated. God save the King.
