If you don’t care about driving get the Lexus and if you want to have fun/enjoy while driving to work, store, home etc get the Acura. I have a 2022 Acura MDX a spec in blue with red interior and I love driving it everyday! I drove a Lexus Rx and it’s boring lol it’s not for me! But everyone have different opinions. Good luck!

I think the TX would be a better seller if it had a V6, I'm not paying $67k for a turbo charged 4 cyl, when I can get a smoother, more reliable and powerful v6 which is tried and true for a lower price, and the MDX is sexier, and it handles better, and I can get a type s with more power if needed. It's basically a nicer grand highlander

Hello gentlemen. Good comparison video between the 2024 Acura MDX and the 2024 Lexus TX 350. We were all waiting patiently for this comparison video and it took place. What really stand out for the TX was the overall space. That's what helped it. As for the MDX, that's good Acura still stood firm on solid ground by staying with the V6 engine. I would rather hear the sound from a V6 engine than from a 4 cylinder engine. In upcoming comparison videos it would be nice to see either one of these two vehicles go up against the Infiniti QX60 in the Autograph trim, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Summit Reserve trim and the Audi Q7 in the Prestige trim. BMW with the X5, Mercedes with the GLE and Genesis with the GV80 would've been good competitors for either one of these two vehicles, but the only issue is that they only have the third row seating as an option and it's not standard.

I'm just curious, why do you consider bigger wheels to be a plus? The tires cost more, the wheels are more prone to damage (and cost more to replace), and the ride can be harsher with the larger wheels. Finally, bigger wheels are heavier than smaller ones, adding to unsprung weight, reducing handling ability (not that that matters too much on these SUVs.)

Not only that but they gave a point for power folding 3rd row which took about 5x longer to fold down than the manual MDX 3rd row. I would prefer manual all day any day.

Larger wheels increase the weight or the load of the vehicle and reduce acceleration. It is important to note that bigger wheels mean you can reach a higher top speed, but the time you take to get that higher speed could be significantly longer. Also, the larger a surface area something covers, the more weight it can support. Similarly, larger wheels have a better grip on the ground and improve the load-bearing capacity of the vehicle.

I sometimes consider big wheels a huge minus due to low-profile tires that will go flat very easily. It’s the one thing that kept my family from buying a MDX Type-S last year when we were in the market for a new SUV. We ended up getting a normal MDX instead and love it.
@jsfbay1
@jsfbay1 6 ай бұрын
@@CarGeek360Agree - I am considering a Limited Grand Highlander with 2nd row bench seat for the cargo space, and I would want to swap someone for their 18" wheels/tires off of the XLE trim. Glad you like the normal MDX - the Type S is on my list as well, but as it creeps up and up towards 80 grand, while that's in the budget, I think I'd rather get an X5 - not as much cargo space, but plenty of fun with that amazing straight 6! And if I went for the Type S, once again I'd try to trade with someone that has the regular MDX with smaller wheels. I just wonder where does this stupid craze end? I think we're very close to the limit with 22" wheels on the Lexus TX. The only good thing I have to say about bigger wheels is that, in general, with less sidewall flex comes better handling (if the car is designed for handling, which for the most part these bigger SUVs are *not*).

I shall prefer MDX over TX. MDX feels more refined. Only reason to consider TX is hybrid option. With that, price differential is bigger. MDX second row is more versatile. Hybrid TX only offers 6 seats. The biggest reason however is more local. I despise business ethics (or lack of) local dealership.

Nice review again. I love my 2023 mdx type S and don't regret even with your score and its a bit unfair because mdx is few years older and easier for someone to find things to improve with something newer. As for sound systems that is subjective like style and design. I have no issues with my mdx and probably far more fun to drive and my younger nephews and nieces have no problem in the back. Middle row okay for my 17 years old son at 6ft 5in which he also prefer back of our Integra on 7 hours road trip instead of our 2020 2.0T Accord which has more room and barely fit in back of our Ridgeline trucks.

MDX definitely is the better looking vehicle. I haven't driven the TX, but the MDX gives a good driving experience. Among the cars I have driven (Defender, X5, MDX, RX, XC 90), only the Defender and X5 felt better (in terms of driving experience). Additionally, the MDX has been around for a while now and that certainly gives it an edge.

I test drove an MDX (non-Type-S) back to back with an X5 40i without M package, and the MDX was far superior in driving dynamics. The X5 had a much creamier ride, but it also felt very insecure on the road whereas the MDX felt very confident. I would have had to pay much more for the M Package with the X5 to get comparable handling.

Both the Defender and the new MDX can be equipped with adaptive air suspension. Did both the Defender and MDX you drove have this option? I drove them both and THE MDX WAS MY CHOICE. I did not like the TX 4 banger engine, and it looks like a school bus. The MDX performs much better, design is much nicer, it has a richer interior, and is quieter. I like the 10 speed transmission and the smooth V-6 engine. I like the touch pad infotainment interface. Once again a great video I enjoyed! I personally prefer the MDX as it has a V6 and I’m not a fan of the TX having a 4 cylinder (same reason why I don’t like the XC90 plus I dislike the seats in that SUV). Both SUVs are incredible and are most definitely at the top of the segment though (other than maybe a BMW X7 but that’s also quite a bit more expensive and I found it to be cramped when I sat in one + the X7 seats are good but they are no where near great). I would not take a X7 on a long road trip personally. The Mazda CX90 is also a great option but I feel like that focuses more on being sporty/fun while the MDX and TX prioritize luxury 1st (all great choices though). To be fair you can get the MDX Type-S but with those low-profile tires that go flat easily I’m personally going to have to refuse. My personal pick in the segment would either be a normal MDX or a plug-in hybrid TX both of which have V6s thankfully (I wish Acura would add a hybrid option to the new gen MDX), but the CX90 and X7 are well worth looking at too! I would not go for a GLE, GLS, Pallisade, or Telluride due to bad reliability. Finally, there’s the Audi Q7 and the Infiniti QX60, but those will never do it for me as the Q7 exterior is boring IMO, the cargo space isn’t that good, and the 3rd row is useless (atp the Q8 is a much better choice for a bit more money), and the new QX60 has WAY too much body roll for my liking and it negatively affects the driving experience. Edit: There’s also the Genesis GV80 but I’m honestly not a fan of the look and the MDX/TX will be more reliable.

I agree with you for the most part, except being a bmw owner since 2015 i will most likely going for the X7 first choice and TX second choice with a battle between CX-90. I test drove Acura MDX Type-S (was nice but that scroll button for infotainment system felt so 5yrs ago lol), the 3rd row was very cramped for its price as well. I really enjoyed the CX-90 Turbo S model (wow factor, handling, cargo, seating) I am 6'2ft.tall. Now with a newborn our 2020 X4M needs an upgrade.

@@frikitonxplosion the X7 is a great product but it’ll have noticeably less room than the CX90/MDX and a lot less room than the TX, if you want the most space, get the Lexus, if you want the nicest one, get the BMW, if you want something that’s practical while still being luxurious, comfortable, reliable, and fun to drive, go Acura or Mazda, based off ur comment and opinions I personally think a top-trim CX90 with the inline 6 is the best choice for your situation but it’s entirely up to you!

I've owned a few bmw models since 2015 and the one that drove (handling) wise like a German was the CX-90. I was also shocked the 2023 Carbon Edition CX-9 (lesser model) still had a great handling far less body less than the 2022 MDX Type-S i drove. The TX is packaged very well in terms of using its boxy styling to the max. This is a better buy than Lexus' own LX600, which can cost double what this loaded model does. Still, I'd go for the Acura. Yes, it is smaller but Americans would just go for a Yukon, Wagoneer, or Expedition if size were really imperative at this price point. Its so interesting to hear such an unrefined-sounding engine in a Lexus product, a brand that worked diligently in the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s to perfect the hushed powertrain and interior. Which brings me back to the Acura. It handles better, the Honda 10AT is one of the best of any made, the J-Series Honda V6 is still a gem, and IMHO, it looks better.

When TX got 4cy only you need to walk away!😂 big size like this need to have atls V6 and all those summary advantage they mentioned are null and void for me. Acura MDX still the king and better reliability on the engine than the small 4cylinder turbo that would stress to haul this big SUV in long run. Plus double wishbone suspension on MDX will give you much more fun to drive while driving a big SUV and makes it feels smaller to handle I knew it because that’s what we use suspension in sports car for upgrades!
@scooter5940
@scooter5940 3 ай бұрын
Exactly. Way too much car to haul around with a 4, at least for one pushing $70k. And getting into a 6 requires some electrification which may not be wanted, and also pushes this thing towards $80. I don’t see this vehicle being a big success once the initial splash wears off.

@@scooter5940 The only contender for mid size 3rd row was the new Mazda CX-90 for the price,dwill choose that than the 4 banger turbo Lexus. Not just the price but the upgrades in lexus was ridiculous compared to all standard features in MDX. I believed lexus buyers was their old patrons and I bet some of them was disappointed too when they did 4cy turbo but for people liking to upgrade to mid luxury segment and looking to snatch for the last V6’ers engines to keep for a while for the price mazda cx90 probably the winner IMO but MDX has a touch of luxury than the Mazda so its what the taste of buyers will be the deciding factor. Acura has the prestige name so its a win win…oh yeah we loved our Aspec’22 it was like a sporty and performs better and you won’t feel like its a heavy mid size SUV when you push it because it has good performance for a big size SUV.

I like my 24 MDX. Riding quality is good. Good looking exterior and interior. Up to date design and functionalities. Good speakers. Reliability is unknown but based on historical numbers it should be fine. Touchpad is much worse than a touchscreen but it is not a dealbreaker for me. Build quality is mediocre (I have an un-alligned liftgate that still to be fixed. Leather stitchings not as good as competitors like RX. Also noticed many inconsistent gaps around front hood while I was at the dealer. But mine was fine.), fuel economy is very bad. I am getting 15 MPG in the city. It should be at least 18-19 MPG to make sense.

I’ve owned Acura, Honda, Toyota, and Lexus. I’ve had some great experiences with all. Both of these seem to have great amenities. I will say that I hated the infotainment on my previous Acura TLX, and I’ve hated the A/C and lack of rear ventilation in ALL my Honda products. I live in the South, and the ventilation problem is a big issue with me and one reason I now own a Lexus for my personal driver. I do still own a Honda Accord, and it is a great vehicle. I just think the A/C on it is subpar.

Bought the Lexus TX350 Luxury because of the better 3rd row. We have the 2nd row captains chairs as well. We’ve owned a 2013 CX9, 2016 MDX, 2017 Tahoe, 2021 Suburban and now this TX and it’s the first time my kids fight over who sits in the 3rd row because it’s so comfortable. They have reclining seats, their own A/C vents, cup holders, phone charger. Leather seats comfortable for long road trips and no complaints. It drives like a small vehicle and has minimal body roll. Engine is fine especially in sport mode. We got 28 MPG on the road trip. Great purchase.

I'd choose the MDX in a heartbeat. Lexus TX interior quality and design is sub par and the only advantages they have are size. When Acura updates the MDX for 2025 I'm hoping they install power folding seats, bigger infotainment screen and get rid of the track pad. Everything else is a winner.

TX two-visit maintenance is not a real value add versus the MDX; first Lexus maintenance visit at 5k is an inspection and does not include any fluid changes (for those that prefer 5k oil changes); first Lexus paid oil change is at the second visit at 10k miles and includes the first oil change. Very poor value for the Lexus; not a deal breaker at this price point, but there is a significant difference between the MDX and TX provided maintenance. Also, keep in mind with the turbo engine in the TX, some may want those 5k oil changes.

Ordered and received my wife’s TX 500h Luxury F sport with every option available minus the towing hitch. Indigo exterior with black interior. It’s a great car. We looked at the MDX and did not like the tech features. The MDX does not offer a touch screen. Touch pads are a thing of the past. The power the 500h has is quite impressive considering its weight and being a 4 cylinder Turbo. The hybrid system does help out. It truly feels like an high output 6 cylinder engine. We didn’t purchase the TX for its power though, but for its luxury and comfortable ride. The TX will be great for our family, and we understand not all families are the same. So purchase, drive, and love what you want and what is in your budget. ✌️

It looks and drives like a Toyota. Sounds like a RAV4. Did Toyota pay for this comparison ?. How could you not be disappointed in the TX and at least try to be fair when comparing these two. No it doesn't. You're absolutely wrong here. It does NOT drive like a Toyota. If you're anywhere near B'Ham AL, check them out. They have three trims on the lot. Premium, Luxury, Hybrid. Beautiful and awesome. I went yesterday. I drove the GrandHighlanders back in August. Sorry, bro. It's cool if you prefer Acura. I say they are the better bang for the buck, if you don't need the space, but to say it drives or even sounds like a Toyota is totally false. The sound deadening in the vehicle is next level compared to GH. Mentioning the Rav4 is just dumb for objective commentary. I'm sorry. Here in the South, markups are rare. In AL, there's one dealer adding $800. We've pre-ordered ours in MS, with no markup. The suspension, the handling, noise levels, smoothness of gear changes, tech, etc, is night and day from Toyota to GH. I was so hoping the GH HMax was close, because that's what I wanted. My wife wants the Lexus. I had to cave. TX wins hands down. I am an admitted Toyota fan boy. Three camry's and a tundra. I also love the MDX, preferably the S-Type, and would recommend if comparing to the 350h, UNLESS you need the space. But from Toys to Lexus, next level.
