Suddenly....I'm 65 (male) from the desert southwest USA. Yeah, I can't believe it either. THIS is the music that those of us that were "rippiin' and roarin' " in the early 1970's could find very late into the wee hours on what we called "underground radio". Usually, bigger towns had stations that would let this psych rock fly at night, and when I hear it now...it immed. takes me back! Nothin' better than taking long, night-time drives with your buds, firing up some weed, laughing hysterically and listening to this stuff.

Yeah that's the thing isn't it? All the members of King Gizzard have a very firm knowledge and appreciation of psychedelic and prog rock of the 60s and 70s but they are also deep into the more stripped down garage rock that was kicking around even earlier in the US underground. That's what makes them so exciting, they can veer so easily between(and mix) different styles of rock music that are nevertheless deeply related.

Actually very natural. Those microtone adjustments on guitars are usual for many instruments in anatolia. In this musical culture too many scales with these commas are being used. And some melodies of this song is taken from master anatolian turkish poet musician Veysel's song Kara Toprak.

I remember years ago these fellas did a free gig at my local pub. Only a few of us hung around til 10pm on that Thursday night to watch them, but we were all blown away. It was the closest thing I’ll ever experience to time travel. Although I didn’t experience the 60’s or 70’s, I was certain I was living in that era during the hour and a half show they put on that night.
