This is one of most underrated diss songs ever. A lot of what Jay said was true. Nas was the underdog and once he dropped Ether, the majority of the game was with Nas after that. Jay was being shunned for “hitting below the belt” or “being in his feelings”. I personally thought it was a cold freestyle diss, but not comparable to Ether cuz that was an actual song. Both legends at the end of the day and are still winning til this day 💯

This Song is very underrated, and the Jay-Z haters always disregard it. Jay himself admitted that this was an unfocused effort, but it's still as vicious as they come. It's funny how people loved the shit that Nas said about Jay, but then they feel Jay was wrong for this. I actually think Blueprint 2 is the better, and more focused response. I also fail to understand how people can say that Jay was emotional on this Song, yet Nas wasn't emotional on Ether, while responding to Takeover. People love to rate Ether as better because Nas spent the entire Song on Jay. Jay was shooting at multiple targets on Takeover. It was an amazing battle, that I never say one person won.

What made this so great in my opinion is on Takeover it’s like he warned Nas when he said “you know who did you know what with you know who but let’s keep that between me and you for now” then Nas dropped Ether so Jay came back with Super Ugly.

No, Nas song was not a hot song. I'm a huge Nas fan but I'm from Atlanta. Nas songs off his first album were only hot up north. He didn't go gold for a long time and platinum longer than that. Nas had a niche following at first. He was a highly respected lyricist but his songs off first album weren't hits. His hits came on second album. So like Hov said, it was only a hot line.

Naw, Cube's "No Vaseline" has the #1 spot. He was the ORIGINATOR of NAMING NAMES!!! before then, rappers would do innuendo or a bar or two. HE DID A WHOLE SONG!! Pacs Hit'em up is #2 and LL's "I Shot Ya!" comes in at #3, HE came at Kool Moe D, Ice T AND Hammer (which was kind of risky cause even though he wore them ballon pants and danced, he was a GOON with hands and gang affiliated. It's funny, cuz as I got older, I realized it was some of the worst writing of Jay's career, spitting facts or not, very few double entendres from the triple entendre king. His flow was all over the place. Not his best work versus one of the best diss tracks of all time. His attack was vicious, but not him at his best at all.

J hit Nas and was celebrating in the ring with his hands up and when he turned around Nas caught him like Hitman Hearns caught Martin. Remember, Jay-Z was on top of the game at that time and Nas was struggling. J’s feelings got hurt that’s why he had to do super ugly
