I have to admit that despite being a huge fan of the Kingdom Death miniatures, the price of them has left me deciding NOT to buy them or the game, but I still LOVE seeing your painting tutorials of these minis. They are amazing (The tutorials) and I learn so many new techniques and paint mixtures every time I view one of them, and this one is one of THE best I've ever seen. Your painting of lantern light has opened my eyes to so many new ways of painting the effect on other minis I have (And please indulge me a moment while I say a huge THANK YOU to all the people who have been sending me their unpainted Zombicide ((Modern and fantasy)) kickstarter minis and Star Wars Imperial Assault minis as a thank you to myself for pointing them in the direction of your tutorials here :-) Keep 'em coming, please, as I am loving having so many duplicates, and am trying out many paint schemes/ideas found on your tutorials on them), and my painting style has changed so much since I started watching how you paint, that I don't recognize some paint schemes I'm doing now, which is wonderful. I love how you use military as well as fantasy based paints for your colour schemes, and don't stick to just one paint set/manufacturer. i have started making my own washes and glazes now, and painting lantern/light effects has become so much easier after watching how you do it, and the effect is really making me want to try some uber-weird colours now, from purple and even a "black" light effect I accidentally came up with on one mini (Think reverse light effect, from a lantern that holds black light). As i said, I may not be able to afford these minis, but watching them come to life under your brushes inspires me to ever greater heights in my own painting every time :-) The music is also getting better, and adds SO much more to the whole atmosphere, unlike the awful Metal/Thrash music other tutorials blast out at you. Can't than k you enough for every tutorial you post, and wish we'd had them nearly 50 years ago, when I first started collecting/painting toy soldiers :-)

It’s about time. My grandma and I have been sitting around waiting for the next one. Too afraid to go forward on our own in case the others don’t correspond well with the previous toned figures. We’ve been looking at the Watcher and his images in the book and how in the world we would match him up properly alongside the others. You need to pump out videos for these faster. 😂 I imagine KDM series is a highly requested one for you anyways.

Thanks a lot Darrell! Actually in a recent Patreon poll KDM didn't score that highly in terms of demand (far more viewers want to see more of the mainstream games that I cover) so although I fully intend to carry on working through them, I do need to ensure that I deliver the content that my supporters want to see the most since they're actually funding my work!

Sorastro's Painting I hope you didn’t take offense, I was more just playing fun. I like your painting guides and can’t wait for more. I figured KDM were more in demand then they were, my apologies. Also I would fund but I really don’t have that much cash. Theres many people I wish to fund, but everybody has a Patreon anymore and it really adds up overtime. It’s nothing personal. But I do appreciate the uploads or else my figures most likely would stay bland and grey as they were.

Sorastro's Painting Well I can give plenty of nice things to say. If it’s of any consolation your really one of the only good painting tutorials. It’s a niche market, but you provide top quality. You have a easy to follow step by step guide, and much nicely and much needed background music during the lengthy videos, and for the love of god actually have the camera focused and close up so I can actually see what your painting. Only complaint is you use GW. I’ve never painted before this, but when I bought the paints you listed, GW paints often either are entirely dry packaged or dry incredibly fast after use. And since these things can take months for me it’s a bit frustrating, also super expensive for some reason. But whatever gets the job done. Not sure if you have the same issue? But I leave you back to your life now. 😂

I absolutely love the work you do, not just the painting, but the care you put into the entirety of the content you present. Is there any way you might do an episode or series on why you use certain techniques in certain cases and what effects they accomplish? I’m brand new to mini painting and would love to understand more of how you do what you do.

Amazing work as always, Sorastro! I've turned on the notifications on your channel just because of this series :) One question about your colour choice: I see you use Ivory to highlight most of the base colours, is this because it's an off-white yellowish tone? Is there a similar tone I could use to do this (maybe deck tan)? because I'm having trouble finding that paint on my stores nearby. And by the way, you forgot to add japanese uniform to the list! I found that because I really liked the colour and came back to check the list again but couldn't find it.
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Lisandro! Yes - it's just a creamy off-white. Mixing a creamy colour (like Citadel's Screaming Skull) with some white will give you a very close match. Thanks RE the Japanese Uniform! I've now added it to the list in the video description :)

I’ve got a question about pinning the butcher’s feet to the base: this was easy enough with the ram and the lion, which I’ve already done, but with the butcher.. the legs and feet are so thin, and they are glued on a lot less securely: I have no idea how I can drill holes in his feet without applying too much pressure and making the legs or the toes pop off. Am I supposed to use a clamp or something?!
@EdgeOfEnding
@EdgeOfEnding 5 жыл бұрын
What's your thought process when deciding on shades? Sometimes you use one shade for the entire mini and sometimes you use different shades for particular areas, not to mention when you use a shade colour on a different base colour (like the druchii violet mix on a grey-brown-ish base). l'm asking because your colour blending is quite fascinating (especially the leadbelcher/dark sea blue mix you often use, really sexy) and is something l really want to learn. Oh, and the mini looks incredible!
@Sorastro
@Sorastro 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lau! Thanks a lot! Regarding the use of shades, it depends.. I might sometimes use them more heavily if I'm painting to a table-top standard and just want some quick and easy contrast. Other times I might use them more selectively - like with the Butcher, in which case I'm really just using them for the more textured parts of the model to help bring some initial separation and definition. Regarding colours I just pick whatever I feel like, but will often include blues or purples as I like how they look in the shadows :)
