358/2 Days and Re:Coded ARE games on the Nintendo DS. They weren't remade for the PS3 & PS4 HD Remix collections (too much work), so the movies on the collections are just compilations of cutscenes from those games.

Roxas doesn't know Aqua that's Ventus. Ventus is with Aqua and Terra in the opening. Roxas in the opening is the guy in the black coat with the two keyblades. They look exactly alike, but they aren't the same person. In KH2 the leader of Organization 13 was Xemnas, and for KH3 there's a new Organization 13 group and the leader is Xehanort. The story is very complicated, so just watching a summary video wouldn't be enough to understand the whole story. If you guys don't have enough time to play all the games then watch the cut scenes in KZfaq, but for 358/2 days, Re: Coded, and X Back cover you can watch the cut scenes on the PS4 games.

358/2 Days is definitely a game on the DS, it was only made into a “movie” with cutscenes and journal entries to read on the collections when they ported it to Sony platforms.

The story in "somewhat simple" terms. - at least 100 years ago, there were Keyblade unions (factions). There was a Keyblade war. People died. There were data worlds & realms of sleep (worlds who weren't entirely destroyed or revived are "asleep"... worlds are sentient, just roll with it). In this time there was a Keyblade wielder named Ventus & two other characters named Elrene & Lauriam. - A kid named Xehanort becomes a Keyblade wielder, trains with a kid named Eraqus. They becomes Keyblade Masters (official honorary title). Eraqus is named successor while Xehanort travels the world, immersing himself in darkness. - Xehanort grows old but powerful, and needs a new body/vessel to house his heart & spirit. He finds Ventus, who has somehow made his way into present day without aging. Xehanort plans to use Ven as his vessel but Ven's body isn't strong enough for the transference. So Xehanort decides to use Ven to forge the x-blade (pronounced KEY-blade) to restart the Keyblade War. One of many ways to forge the x-blade is for a heart of pure light & a heart of pure darkness to clash. Xehanort uses his Keyblade to extract Ven's darkness to create a dark version, which he names Vanitas. Ven begins to die, but newborn Sora's light heals him. Xehanort places Ven in Eraqus' care to strength the light, where he meets Eraqus' pupils, a young man named Terra & a young woman named Aqua. Xehanort decides Terra will be his future vessel. - Four years later, Xehanort & Vanitas pretty much cause shit to go down. This is Birth by Sleep. Xehanort possesses Terra's body and Ven shatters his heart to destroy the X-blade and vanquish Vanitas. 4 year old Sora's heart gives Ven's heart a place in his body to heal. Aqua fights Xehanort-in-Terra's body (Terra-Xehanort). She defeats him, but renders him amnesiac. in the process. Terra-Xehanort opens a portal to the Realm of Darkness and falls inside. Aqua plunges inside to save him, but she can't get them both back out, so she sends Terra-Xehanort, trapping herself in the Realm of Darkness (RoD) - Xehanort, in Terra's body with no memory, is found by Ansem the Wise, ruler of Radiant Garden. Xehanort was aided by Braig, one of the castle guards. Xehanort regains his memories and he and Braig, along with the other apprentices, banish Ansem to the realm of darkness. Xehanort takes on Ansem's name and extracts everyone's hearts, splitting them into Heartless & Nobodies. So Xehanort's Heartless is Ansem, villain of KH1 and his Nobody is Xemnas, villain of KH2. - Nine years later, KH1 plot y'all know - 0.2 Birth by Sleep = takes place right after BBS & ends at the climax of KH1. Time works differently in the RoD, so Aqua's little trip there was 10 years in the outside world. Aqua meets Mickey, but is still trapped there. - Chain of Memories: right after KH1, Sora meets the Organization, where he meets Larxene & Marluxia (Nobodies of Elrena & lauriam, somehow they made their way to present day too. KH3 will answer that.) He kills a lot of them, as does Riku, but he loses his memories in the process & goes to sleep to regain them. - KH2 plot y'all know, one year after KH1. - 358/2 Days is the story of Roxas, Axel and Xion and their job at Organization XIII. Roxas is Sora's Nobody (body left behind when a person loses their heart). Because Ven's heart was in Sora's body and Sora's body became Roxas, Roxas looks like Ven. So the guy in this trailer you called Roxas is Ven. This was a DS game converted into cutscene movies for PS3/PS4. - Re:coded Mickey Mouse goes back to his castle where Chip & Dale discover that Jiminy Cricket's journal has been 'bugged'. They digitize the diary (convert it to data) and discover a virus. Basically Mickey is reminded that hey, Aqua is in the RoD, he should probably save her. Mickey goes to his master, Yen Sid, who tells him to bring Sora & Riku to him so they can become official Keyblade Masters. - Dream Drop Distance: Sora & Riku are sent to the past (this is the game of time travel) so they can enter the Realm of Sleep. Xehanort fucks up this plan, cause Yen Sid reveals that when a Heartless & Nobody are destroyed, the original being returns. Sora killed Ansem & Xemnas, so the OG Xehanort is back. Sora & Riku are plagued by Young Xehanort: the teenage Xehanort has time traveled to the future to fuck with Sora! Xehanort reveals that his Heartless, Ansem, acquired the power to travel through time and went back in time to give that power to his young teenage self. Ansem & Xemnas are "back" because their past selves, before they were killed, were brought into the present day via time travel, although they will eventually have to return to their own times, with their memories wiped. Sora is nearly possessed by Xehanort but is saved by Riku, Mickey, Donald, Goofy & Lea (Axel's true self). Yen Sid tells Sora he needs to visit Hercules to regain his lost strength & Riku is tasked to bring Kairi, so she can learn to become a Keyblade Master along with Axel/Lea, who can now wield a Keyblade as well. KH3: defeating Xehanort & his 13 selves. Restoring Namine (Kairi's Nobody that altered Sora's memories), Xion (the girl from 358/2 Days who was revealed to be a Sora/Roxas clone) and Roxas.

358/2 Days was a game first. It was on the Nintendo DS. They made it a movie on the PS4 releases because they couldn’t remake it into those graphics without major work on it. Also it is Ventus and Aqua, not Roxas. Roxas is later, Ventus came first. He’s a main character in Birth By Sleep. And Xion is the main female character from 358/2 Days.

358/2 Days is a DS game they later reformatted into a "movie" for the 1.5 Remix. Really it's just the cutscenes with a log of what's happening in the story. They did the same for Re:Coded in the 2.5 Remix. Each are relatively unimportant but explain some crucial backstory.

Y’all in the comments are crazy, not everyone is going to know the jumbled up convoluted mess of a story of this franchise to a tee. Some just played the main entry’s and that’s perfectly understandable. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be excited or hyped for the final installment to the dark seeker saga.

please catch up on the story before you play because you literally will have no idea whats going on. It won't be like KH2 where you just don't understand the beginning you will literally have no idea whats going on because KH3 will tie in the story for all of them and if you only played the major 2 you'll be so lost

358/2 Days WAS a game. They just didn't port the game over to PS4 and instead gave us a cinematic movie. You guys also seem to be forgetting Re:Coded.

The other KH games aren't spin-offs they're main titles which aren't numbered. Trust me y'all are gonna be lost af if you don't play Birth By sleep, Chain of Memories, 358/2 days, and Dream Drop Distance (you can skip coded - cause there's only 2-3 cutscenes which actually add something to the KH story).

Birth by Sleep is Kingdom Hearts 0. It is a main game and proof is the fact it got a Final Mix release, which only happened to 1 and 2.

I remember the previous trailers. These guys said they were going to play the previous games or watch cutscenes to catch up cause fans were shitting on them. All talk no action. Except Rana, she tries.

358/2 Days was a really good game, and worth playing, but for the sake of being able to put all the games into one disc, they made movie versions of the “in-between” games just so you could get the story without having to play through everything. But I would definitely recommend playing the main games (1&2) and also playing Birth By Sleep. Those are the ones where I think you need to play through it to really understand the story. The others you can just watch the movies that were made or watch cut scenes on KZfaq.

i LOVE this opening. I cant exactly express how happy this opening made me. As a fan of chillstep and liquid dnb, this is all i could have asked for in a video game intro. I grew up with artists like Blackmill and CMA, and this made me shed a tear.
