Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind - New Kairi ~ No Damage Vs. Armored Xehanort (Critical Mode)

Kairi is extremely well balanced and has no blatant weaknesses. First let's start with what's unique about her kit. Kairi's combo starter: (calling it Light Wheel) she lunges her Keyblade at a distant enemy and on impact procs a multi hit that also gives her the option of blinking into her target as follow-up or you can also dash cancel after Light Wheel lands to use it as poke. This attack sort of acts like Sora's Air-step, which basically means Kairi can gap close onto enemies while also minimizing the chances of being attacked. Which for example someone like Riku or especially Aqua have more trouble with.
Next she's given TWO great situation commands! First one is Seven Wishes which acts like a mini Sonic Blade. It's used to avoid sporadic attacks or to combo extend. @ClashOfNinja4 🐱👤
Her second command is One Heart, watch the bonus clip at the end to see it. xd

Alright let's move on to what makes Kairi a bit more balanced opposed to over powered. First her dash isn't a blink so it's automatically loses some cool points. Secondly her combo damage is actually low but the length of her combos make up for it! And actually that's pretty much it, wait wasn't I supposed to argue for her being balanced?
Oh wait I forgot her shield is also a protect. Which is the best form of guard to have in the entire series....
Wait she ALSO has a shot lock. WAIT SHE ALSO HAS EXCELLENT MAGIC DAMAGE!!! Sigh I guess she is op, in an honest way though. Like she doesn't cheese with over powered attacks if ya feel me. She's just all around great, like Sora.
Character Rating- Kairi gets a 5 out of 5 stars. Red hair don't care! Light slays blight.
Team Attack Rating- 'One Heart' gets a 10 out of 5 stars. That cinematic, I could feel that rutilant warmth of Destiny Island's setting sun. Those are our memories too at this point.

I really hope we get more playable Kairi in the future, Osaka Team did a great job of making her feel like a great fighter, especially with tbe other characters in Re:Mind that aren't Sora lol Also, I love how, unlike the others, Kairi has access to all ga spells AND a finisher unique to her You can really tell they loved making Kairi work

Yeah Riku should have been there too honestly. But I guess this was more a SoKai fight. Nevertheless in need a Wayfinder trio team attack and a destiny trio team attack like the sea salt trio had.

I think she's very well rounded, her attacks all seem to lean to a more strategic fight since her attack power is comparatively low to Sora, so the agility and the great block definitely serves to balance out the low damage output. I can't wait to get this part of remind

while i wish it does take a further challenge in game design. have you seen the superbosses in bbs? i heard with aqua and ventus they were mostly p handleable but with terra they can become outright impossible

While that is true multiple games including kingdom hearts have done multiple playable characters correctly. just look at DMC5 and dream drop. There's so much that can be done with these characters (like an arena mode) but they are just shifted to side acts while sora does like 90% of the work its kinda lame ngl

yea, its really the one feature since kh2 that's kept the games from true greatness. there were ones like CoM or BBS that did let you play another character, but two games out of like 11 isnt enough, especially for a series finale.

As another small bonus, Kairi has access to the game's full suite of magic, while the other playable characters don't. I found this out while looking through her shortcuts, of which she has two full shortcut menus filled. So yes, that means grand magic, not that she needs it.

@@arcaniumdragon2444 Hid her heart inside Sora while Ansem tried to get the princesses and basically had her nobody (Namine) fuck around with Organization XIII's plans. And on a minor note she became Aqua's sucessor, which allowed her to fill the role of the 7 guardians of light. In other words Kairi is the most useful useless character. She herself does nothing on purpose but on a subconcious level she is an important piece against Xenahort.

One interesting thing to note is that she is programmed to only say this line if she has a chance to miss her attack or actually misses and when she hits an enemies RV which is actually insanely useful as a sound que.

In a sense, she trained a lot but she was untested in a battle as intense as any of the organization members. She could have spent the equivalent of 5 years there but she still wouldn't have experienced fighting someone like Xehanort or any of the 13 darknesses.

I have a small theory we all know how as roxas being soras nobody and xion being his replica they also have the same battle stance as sora but later roxas makes his own due to have two keyblades but as there are now different people but are still having some similarities to sora and even in 358/2 days we see that xion literally looked like sora after absorbing too much of his memories that even her armored form looked similar to sora and in kh2 how riku was showing signs of similarities to ansem and even later turned in ansem and how having ven in soras heart affected roxas into looking like him instead of sora and how in melody of memory kairi turned into sora after wielding the kingdom key so from all these moments we learned that having to much of something from someone else can cause you to have similarities to that person so maybe kairi being in soras heart for all of kh1 caused kairi to have the battle stance as sora

Also, watching this the 2nd time, I like how in some actions/animations Kairi is a little bit meek or not super confident If we ever get her as a playable character again, I hope she'll go through similar changes like Sora did from KH1 to KH2, more confident and generally more capable. Continuing the series with Kairi as the new "main protag" would be extremely cool, I think

Lol truee. Kairi is definitely stronger than what she portrayed in MoM, well at least physically. I think her heart and mental as a Kb wielder are still very underdeveloped though and since her fight w/Nort (MoM) was from within, her reliance on Sora wasn't exactly out of place. Plus once Aqua trains her it's actually just over~

did you struggle at all with the meteor phase? i saw you used the checkpoint in the fight and was wondering if you werent exactly sure how the patterns worked out

Meteor phase was a moderate struggle. I’m fairly new to ‘no damage’ runs. Do you know if the top players reset the entire fight if they fail past the check point?

From what i know most lv 1 crit no dmg youtubers did use the checkpoint in the final xehanort fight in the main game myself included tho im pretty mediocre compared to other kh lv 1 crit channels. I opted to do this fight in one go as its simple enough to not require that however fights like armored xehanort in the base game having sections like underwater fight are probably checkpoint worthy.

Well Kairi did get her keyblade ability from Aqua in a way so it makes sense why she has full reflect barrier when Sora doesn't.

Think of the map as a standard clock. At the start of the fight you spawn near the bottom (so on the clock you'd be by the 6) then if you ran to the very opposite side of the map (in a straight line), you'd be at the 12. For the most part all I do is run back and forth from 6 -----> 12 or from 12 -----> 6 Video reference: @4:50 - @5:20 Ofc you'll still have to block his attacks and time meteor drops but yeah... Damn giving tips on this was hard. Sorry if it didn't help. xd You got this tho, don't give up~

One thing I've noticed is that Kairi's dodge dash looks VERY similar to Ardyn Izunia's in his FFXV DLC Episode, footwork and everything. It might not seem like much but just wanted to get it out there.

@@MetalChocob0 Interesting isn't it? I've been pondering about this for quite some time now especially since the release of ReMind. Considering that the DLC comes nearly a year after Episode Ardyn, I shudder to think what Nomura has up his sleeves regarding Kairi's story and role in KH's next saga, if my theory that she's related to/a descendant of Ardyn Lucis Caelum is realised.

The Keyblade is empowered by its user's strength of heart. Kairi's heart has saved Sora from being a Heartless, saved Sora from being trapped in the Realm of Darkness, and saved Sora from being DEAD. Do the math.

Even though this battle was easier playing as Sora, it was definitely more satisfying to defeat Xehanort as Kairi. That way, Kairi gets her revenge from Xehanort after he murdered her for his own evil gain.

Wish theyd gotten doc brown to voice act xehanort from the start. Hes so confident and you dont want to hate him so much. Also his combat sounds are actually good.
